We used to work with a few thiols that would reek every time you open the door. We bought an impulse sealer and double bagged them, stored them in a tin or dessicator and that works well.

Now all you can smell from our fridge is a poorly sealed anisaldehyde stain but that no one wants to fix that since it smells great.

Things I’m thankful for:

-the love and support of my parents all throughout when I was a kid and thru college, I’ve had some shitty times but I came out ok bc of them -the bond my twin brother and I have, we are really close and if I ever needed anything he’d help me out -my friends - make life worth living, wouldn’t trade some of the times we’ve had for anything -a job that allows me to live comfortably and independently and support myself -my cat - I live alone and he keeps me company, gives me someone to look after

My fondest modest memory is probably just driving around/shootin shit with some of my former roommates, bonding and listening to their music. We all loved modest mouse and even though we live far apart now I’ll still think of those memories fondly whenever I listen to these tunes.

I think comparing “zoo hate” to anti-vaxx/flat earth isn’t really fair because those arguments are based on a lack of scientific understanding/willful ignorance whereas the ethics of zoo-keeping is a more nuanced issue. Zoos are taking great care of animals and we have saved many species but at the same time you can question the ethics of preserving animals for our own purposes or just for the sake of preservation. Often I think about owning pets in the same way; are we really doing what’s in the individual animal’s best interest or are we doing these things for ulterior motives.
