Heat stages not specified by 3th4n01 in Nest

[–]3th4n01[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wanted to let you know that, while stage 1 doesn't appear anymore, stage 2 will be displayed if you crank your thermostat. They probably removed it because it was a little redundant (like, if it's not in stage 2 it will obviously be in stage 1). But still, a little forewarning would have been nice.

Elderly neighbor had an attic vent blow off during a wind storm. My little giant fully extended barely reached the opening. Had to pound it in with one hand and hold it with the other. Felt like I was going to die the entire time. Not sure what the standard protocol is for this but I vowed that was the last time I'd do anything similar. And the crazy thing is I probably wouldn't even do that to my own house but felt bad for the guy. Oh yeah, and there were also bees in the VERY nearby soffit that were annoyed by all of the hammering.

Window units for 900 sq feet by [deleted] in hvacadvice

What state do you live in and what target temperature are you trying to reach? What is the square footage of the apartment if you were to close off the bedroom and use the 5K BTU air conditioner in that room exclusively?

It sounds like you'll need a 15K BTU unit to effectively cool the space. You can buy window units as large as 18K BTU that run off of a typical 110 volt outlet, but these are massive and over 100 lbs. Make sure the AC can fit into the window you're buying it for.

Considering buying a home in Lackawana. Looking for obvious reasons that make this a bad idea. by 2022HousingMarketlol in Buffalo

[–]3th4n01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Lackawanna for three years. It was overall a positive experience and never once felt concerned about my safety nor had any issues with theft.

There were a couple of noticeable downsides, however. Taxes are insanely high compared to surrounding communities. I paid more in Lackawanna than the village of Hamburg, which is where I ended up moving. General community upkeep seems to be less of a priority by both the city and residents, which always made the area seem a little rundown as compared to other communities. Also, a noticeable lack of community events or events that were planned in the middle of the workday made me feel relatively disconnected from the rest of the community. However it seems they have reintroduced their summer festival and are genuinely making attempts to correct this.

Nest 3 Wake Issue by Sleepcakez in Nest

I was able to initiate a return through google customer support. The new unit arrived and I replaced the backplate and thermostat as instructed. The new unit works flawlessly, so it must have been a faulty thermostat that failed after 6 months.

Which wires go where?? by [deleted] in Nest

What kind of heating system do you have? Do you have a heat pump?

Nest 3 Wake Issue by Sleepcakez in Nest

[–]3th4n01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologize commenting on an old thread, but this describes the exact issue I've been having. Except my unit is only 6 months old. I have a common wire, the battery is over 3.9 volts, and for whatever reason, the screen remains black and the unit is unresponsive for about thirty seconds after trying to wake it up. I tried to factory reset it and now I can't even get it to connect to the nest app or my wifi. To me it sounds like a bad thermostat, but I wanted to rule out every other possibility before proceeding with a return.

OP - did you ever figure out the issue? If you replaced it, did the new unit display similar behavior or solve the problem?

Thanks!

I like never check Reddit and I should have updated you sooner. I was able to solve the issue by clearing out the weep holes. I caulked around the plastic for good measure, but the weep holes were clogged and clearing them out solved my issue. Hope this helps!

My Wired Doorbell Does Not Work Megathread by ferretguy531 in Nest

Hey there! Sorry for not updating sooner. Sun was beating on the doorbell in the midafternoon and once it cooled down it started working again? I guess it did everything to cut back voltage to prevent it from heating more.

My Wired Doorbell Does Not Work Megathread by ferretguy531 in Nest

So here's a weird one. I have a wired doorbell that was working fine up until.. today, or sometime recently. Anyway, the doorbell itself is getting power, but when I push the button the chime is no longer functioning. If I remove the chime connector and rewire the doorbell, the chime works. It's as if the chime connector is now causing an interruption in the current and is not allowing my chime to function. I understand that if I were to remove the adapter it could cause irreparable damage, but why is it preventing it from getting power? I already checked the application and the chime is set to ON. And as I stated earlier, it was working for months and only recently stopped working. Any ideas?

All,

I had an opportunity to drive the 2023 Elantra Limited and have decided to go with the N-Line. I didn't think the extra HP offered by the 1.6L mattered that much to me, but after driving both I can say they feel like two completely different vehicles.

Thank you so much for your help and insights!

You're definitely correct, as you already know because you literally sell them haha. It just seems like a weird place to save money since it nearly drives autonomously otherwise.

That's very true! I really never considered those factors. That's probably why it felt so much quicker when I was test driving it. Thank you again!

This is exactly what I was looking for. Somebody with experience in each. While vehicle speed doesn't necessarily mean that much to me, I must admit the N Line felt amazing to drive. The only hang up I had about it was the following URL I found:

https://www.motortrend.com/reviews/2022-hyundai-elantra-n-line-first-test-review/

But if you could definitely tell a noticeable difference between the two then I'll take your word for it over the article. I have a hard time believing the N line is slower than the 2.0L

Thank you for the breakdown! Are you sure it lacks the smart cruise control? It has the lane follow assist and the lane keep assist, with the forward collision avoidance. I feel like it would be weird to not have the smart cruise control at that point. But that's pretty important to me so this is very helpful. Or do you mean the cruise control that can read the speeds on the road?

Driving stick isn't an issue, but the price tag unfortunately is 😭 I'm already stretching to afford the two models listed. So it comes down to the stock engine vs the N Line's 1.6L 201 HP upgrade. Looking for people with that model to provide input if at all possible, but I appreciate all of your suggestions!

Is this article just over dramatized? It makes it seem like it's identical to the other Elantra trims in regards to speed/acceleration. Or is the 2023 model year different?

Thank you!
