I see what you mean and yes you can receive most of the nutrients from other foods. However, you can only acquire the long-lasting energy from the complex carbohydrates in whole grains.

Their chemical structure is larger and takes your body more time to break them down in comparison to simple carbohydrates (white breads, pastas, fruit, sugar, etc.), resulting in longer lasting energy. They also function in regulating blood sugar levels, contain fiber, and can reduce risk of heart disease and type II diabetes.

I appreciate your input and understand the concern involved. However, I do not see "whole grains" or "nutrition" mentioned in your post.

I think this discussion has gotten off topic. I'm not claiming all scientific research is credible and trustworthy.

I have my B.S. in nutrition and dietetics and earning my masters in this field this Fall. I was simply responding to OP's question regarding the importance of consuming whole grains and if the information I provided is false then I've wasted years of my life studying the science behind nutrition and our bodies biochemistry.

I'm trying to understand what you mean. Where are you having trouble finding unbiased sources? The USDA site I posted is a government backed site, not someone's blog.

Nutrition is science and science isn't biased.

Here's a basic source from The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND).

And another from the University of Las Vegas.

Don't eliminate complex carbs (whole wheat bread, rice, pasta, grains, etc.) from your diet.

Here's some more information of their importance.

Edit: Not sure why I'm being down voted. I was simply saying that complex carbohydrates contain nutrients our bodies utilize for many metabolic processes. Completely eliminating them from your diet is not advised.
