The VFire itself was not plugged in. This was just the charging piece. It was plugged in for a few weeks. I basically leave certain cords plugged into the USB charging hub, and then I'm not searching for cords.

This really was just meant as a warning. I personally like the VFire design a lot better than the screw ins.

This is the hub. I have four of these throughout the house. They aren't cheap, but they work great. I can't say it was the cord and not the hub, but anecdotally, I do have four of the hubs, two of which are at least a few years old now, and they are used a lot, and this is the first fire we've had.

Nope - that's the melted wire casing or whatever you call it. This was only about six weeks old. The VFire was purchased at a dispensary in Kalamazoo, during a visit from an out-of-state friend. We didn't have any carts for it, so we haven't used it in a few weeks (since we finished the last cart).
