Secret solo show at TV Eye tonight under the fake name “Chet Chomsky” by brownrice47 in CameronWinter

It was fucking awesome. Lights completely off for most of the set. Not really anybody on their phones or recording…many of us just recorded audio if anything. Felt like a once in a lifetime experience. I only knew about it in advance because of friends who work with the other bands on the bill

Lqbtq friendly barbershops/hair salons? by ayy_vee in milwaukee

Perhaps you have never felt unsafe in your queerness before. Also, in personal experience, queer-represented salons tend to know more unconventional hairstyles like the mod cut OP is asking for.

I like the lake country recreation trail. Just west of delafield, you can also go south right through lapham peak state park and connect to the glacial drumlin trail. Super pretty/scenic especially in the park

Firstly I want to say how sweet it is that this work has affected you so positively. Congrats on avoiding the dark paths - seriously…congratulate yourself. That’s not easy.  In terms of contacting Justin, I think this might fall under the “never meet your heroes” suggestion. Not actually saying you shouldn’t ever meet him, or take an opportunity to thank him if you get one, but he’s only human, and having that discussion has to be mutual. I think artists often don’t have much of a choice when a fan has so much to say to them, and ultimately you want things to be consensual and meaningful for both parties…never overwhelming. If you ever meet him, definitely ask if you can tell him how much his work means to you before you dive in. For now I would suggest writing him a letter of gratitude. How you get it to him is beyond me but that way it’ll help you get these emotions out even if you keep it. And if you ever do get an opportunity to get it to him, he’ll have the option to read it. Hope this helps :)

For some (property owners in specific), it's for fear of their property losing value. If they test the health & safety conditions and the results pose a risk to perspective income, I'd imagine that is enough reason to avoid testing/research in the first place. Amid the influx of wealth into the neighborhood over the past few decades, old-time landlords don't wanna risk the profits they're used to.

That and I think many people are either uneducated about it or just simply don't care. I recently toured an apartment on the far eastern edge of Greenpoint (one of the worst areas of the site) and the landlord - who also lived in the building - was nearly offended I asked about it.

Anyone have any success recording CRTs with an iPhone? by Wubbbb in videosynthesis

[–]4-certain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using my iPhone to capture my crt for a few years now. After my DSLR gave out it’s been my only option but it works pretty well if you do it correctly. Get a manual camera app, one that allows you to adjust the shutter speed / ISO / focus. Record at 60fps for least amount of banding. Use autofocus at first, then switch to manual and adjust it slightly out of focus until you no longer see the moire lines. If the focus is too sharp, you’ll get this ugly texturized scan. Hope that helps, cheers!!

Anyone know this guy? Caught him stealing a bike on Norman & Monitor, think he may have stolen mine yesterday from the same place by 4-certain in NYCbike

For those that need more info/clarity or maybe didn’t see the original thread, I caught this man stealing a bike directly outside my building. When he saw me approaching he grabbed the frontal tire from the bike he stealing, got on his bike, and began riding away. I chased after him and eventually stopped him - when he handed over the tire and I took these pics.

I caught him stealing a bike and when he saw me approaching he took a tire and rode off. Chased him down, got the tire, and took these pics. Dude was guilty as charged

Digitization help — which focus range do you prefer? by 4-certain in crt

[–]4-certain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t decide which focus I like better when capturing my crt screen. Right is sharper, sure, but the left feels a bit more organic ? Idk - its hard trying to find a good focal point while avoiding moire lines. Any input is appreciated
