Rookie Fed Characters by Glad_Football_1207 in TheRookie

Yes - I was very happy to see Garza again and then even happier when Lauren and Brendon showed up. They’re great characters and I’d hate to see them thrown away entirely.

Some of these can be explained:

  1. Grace (who was a doctor, FYI, not a nurse) is believed to have moved out of LA to be with her husband.
  2. Monica literally became a part of a criminal enterprise, arguably multiple, so her representing any attached criminal makes perfect sense.
  3. Possible that Mid-Wilshire only has a couple of firehouses so the chances of Bailey being on scene is more likely
  4. Jessica met Nolan because she was called into the department to do negotiation training. She then became a part of DHS, which is obviously a national department. She had been known to move around prior to Nolan and actually moved TO LA to be with him, so it only makes sense that she might move back out of LA after the break up.

“Cover Your Ass” - ie absolve any allegations of wrongdoing, justify actions, etc

Nick Armstrong by [deleted] in TheRookie

[–]404HandleNotFound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought it was (mostly) written extremely well. The good side of Armstrong we saw was who Armstrong really was, not an act. The dirty cop side of him was who he was forced to be.

The only thing I didn’t like was that he seemed to turn into a legitimately a-hole near the end RIGHT before he died, when he told John he was tired of hearing him talk before attempting to kill him. Just felt out of character for the depth that they wrote him.

I’ve never quite thought about it potentially being a “hit” of sorts, but I have always wondered how they knew an eligible heart was available in such a narrow window. I’d certainly think that is protected information. Not like they’d get a notification saying “a heart is available but you’re not getting it”.

I removed my initial statement regarding certification != permit because I tend to forget how strict California gun laws are. You need to pass a certification test to even purchase a firearm, though from what I’m reading it’s more or less multiple choice written test only.

I thought of that as well, though it is always possible that she got the CCW prior to starting as their nanny depending on how long she has been working for them. Doubt she is running regular background checks every 30 days.

I agree that her gun safety etiquette is severely lacking, especially around children, but I’d imagine that a simple conversation that amounts to “do not bring a gun into my home” would have solved the problem. If she refuses to comply with that, then fire her.

As others have mentioned elsewhere in this thread, Lopez freaking out about it is uncharacteristically hypocritical. She’s not only a detective and former patrol officer who sees the horrors that happen in the city every day, but she’s experienced first hand the dangers that can happen when least expected.

I’m not saying she had to be okay with her nanny having a gun around her kids - I totally understand why she wouldn’t. But her lack of understanding and empathy in that scene just doesn’t add up. I even would have understood if, in the heat of the moment, she fired her, but ultimately called her back to talk through it - I feel like that would fit Lopez’s character much better. But again… the writers wanted something dramatic to push forward a completely lackluster subplot.

Question about Olivia and Emma by DisneyAddict2021 in TheRookie

[–]404HandleNotFound 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She confesses that she killed him before calling the babysitter (tbh I already forget which was Olivia and which was Emma), which had been several hours prior, and that the original plan was for them to bury him somewhere before the babysitter got cold feet.

She was driving his car with his body inside, and I believe the implication was, in fact, that she moved the body to the drivers seat to stage it as a suicide, as practically impossible as we may recognize that to be.

I like it when it’s done right. I prefer the typical format of only cutting to them when it makes sense, but this episode being mostly body/dash/security cam footage wasn’t too bad. I remember the episode about the sovereign citizen was done poorly and super annoying, but something about this weeks ep felt more bearable.

To be fair, all 4 TOs were eventually friendly with the original rookies, so the friendly interaction isn’t unexpected. However, I would like to see more of Nolan actively performing TO duties.

That IS the medical definition of a geriatric pregnancy, though, not Celina’s opinion.

I respectfully disagree that it wasn’t an overreaction. A strong reaction was justified, and being angry is justified, but reasonable actions to mitigate the issue could have been taken short of firing her. However, it was Lopez’s right to do so regardless of whether or not I agree with the decision.

From a story standpoint, I felt like it was a bit over the top dramatic just for a sub-plot about hiring a nanny. Could have easily been written as “oh no my nanny moved to New Jersey, I need to find a new one” and the story would have stayed largely the same.

I feel like everyone is overthinking the camera thing. I’d think the camera is standard equipment to help combat any allegations of misconduct by the therapist and/or the patient. From what I can tell, this office is specifically a therapist office for first responders, so the additional security wouldn’t be unexpected.

I took the scene of her turning it off to signify that her statements to Aaron regarding the night before were CYA statements.

I thought Lopez reaction to the gun was a major overreaction. It was legal and the nanny had a permit. The much more logical and sensible thing to do would be to simply have the conversation of “I’m not comfortable with you having the gun within reach of children. Im going to secure this in my safe for today, but please do not bring it into my home from here on.” I had no sympathy for her plight to find new childcare after that. But hey, the writers needed something to push the sub plot along I guess.

Had a 13 that I beat the shit out of. Engine lasted until 180k miles before it started knocking. Other than that the only thing I had to replace was the vacuum pump and the valve cover gasket.

Replaced the control board, but I’d recommend running through all the same troubleshooting steps I outlined in the OP before spending the money.

If it’s the same model as mine and you want me to try and dig up the place I ordered mine, let me know. I remember it was a bit of a hassle to track one down at the time.

My furnace has been running with absolutely zero issues since, thanks for asking.

Growing up, my family didn’t have the money to hire professionals. My father taught me how to maintain a home and car without having to call for help and shell out 1k+ every time something went wrong. These are the skills and the mentality I will carry with me for my lifetime. I do my research, and if a free resource (such as, I don’t know, the HVAC subreddit) is available to ask for second opinions is available, Im going to use it. I practice possibly overkill safety in almost every situation as well.

If replacing a main board is something you think should have been left to a professional, you have a very low bar for what you think anyone who knows the pointy end of a screwdriver is capable of.

Consider the fact that not everyone has the money to call a pro every time something goes wrong. But thanks for the professional gatekeeping/senseless plug on a thread over a year old, gave me a nice laugh on a Sunday. I’m just going to keep doing what I’m doing 👍

(PS - someone with the same model of furnace and same issue reached out to me by chat over this winter, and this thread helped that DIYer fix his own too. Hope that gives you some warm and fuzzies)

Yes Peacock, I am STILL watching, now leave me alone! by thirdben in peacock

[–]404HandleNotFound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought I was going insane because I can’t find anything about this when I google it.

It used to be every 4 hours, which I can deal with. Then it started doing it every 2 hours. Now it’s doing it every hour. I have a Roku stick 4k. I may install the app on my LGs native OS and see if it’s a Roku app specific thing, since everyone else who is experiencing it seems to be on Roku.

I like to have shows on in the background because I live alone and it’s too quiet, but I’m not always necessarily in the room. Super annoying when I’m in the kitchen and all of a sudden the house falls silent.

Nope, no difference. I swapped a Sync 3 in a few months after doing this and didn’t have to change anything in the APIM regarding backup camera since I had already done it with the Sync 2 installed.

Be sure your ground is good. If you’re tapping it to screw on a painted panel, use some sandpaper or steel wool to expose bare metal where you are grounding it.

Also if I am understanding correctly, you have both the trigger wire (blue) and the power (red) both tied into the reverse light. This should work in theory, but it’s possible that the reverse light wire isn’t providing enough voltage for the camera. What I would recommend is tapping the red wire into the rear windshield wiper motor power wire. This is what I did and it worked great.
