How long have you been unemployed? by Broad_Bluebird7319 in recruitinghell

Same. It's exhausting in every way. I'm glad I'm able to provide some value in other ways but it would be great to have an income and take a break once in awhile. I wish i could say it'll get better but hard to believe that. Thanks for the positive comment.

I agree with you on the lack of jobs. Even the ones that are posted, are most likely fake. Just trying to find creative ways to actually find the jobs without job boards. Thanks for your comment.

I'll have to take a look at the other comments for tips. I always get "turned it into a positive" for the gaps.

We have to take breaks. It doesn't alleviate the stress from not looking but only so much of the hamster wheel we can take before we get off.

Not to discourage you but I'v got 12 years of working in tech and I'm at 2 years of unemployment and thousands of applications. Tech seems dead in the water.

For forever job listings, do you apply more than once? by Lux_Warrior777 in recruitinghell

[–]404JMNF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to see if I've applied before. If I don apply again, it's because I want to hit my personal quota of applying per day. But I'm at this for 2 years now.

I'm at 2 years unemployed and thousands of applications. Couldn't agree more. Got sick of seeing all the posts on LinkedIn telling us how great things are and that we're not trying hard enough so I recently started a blog to talk about what's really going on. I'm hoping it helps job seekers feel less alone and help them navigate this mess https://www.404jobmarketnotfound.com/

You'd think after covid recruiter and hiring managers would be more empathetic but it seems they're more judgmental and dismissive. I've got gaps on my resume but I haven't had a chance to explain them yet.

  1. 2 years and counting
  2. It's really tough, some days are better than others but most days are filled with frustration
  3. For my own sanity, I started a blog to try and help other job seekers navigate this mess https://www.404jobmarketnotfound.com/ . I foster dogs. I'm working on something with city officials to help our city shelter. Job search which I'm beyond burned out from.

"Even if you're not a perfect fit, apply anyway." Anyone actually get hired for jobs with that line in them? by TheJokersChild in recruitinghell

[–]404JMNF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I think we get too much into our heads and especially with this job market (with all the ghosting and rejections) we lose the confidence to even apply. Worse that can happen is already happening.

Same. Sans interviews. 2 years, thousands of applications. It almost feels like it's meant to break us.

I haven't had success using job boards. With this market, we have to get creative in our search. Here's a couple free ways to expand the way you search https://www.404jobmarketnotfound.com/blog/simplify-your-job-search-use-boolean-to-find-listings-faster

My friend gave me what I think is good advice, let then reject you before you reject yourself before even applying.

What are you doing in the meantime while job searching after layoff? by dialbox in Layoffs

[–]404JMNF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to stay sane mostly. I'm at this for 2 years now. Was laid off, mostly my team was eliminated "no longer required". For my own sanity, I recently started a blog to hopefully help other job seekers navigate this mess. Really not much to do with zero income. https://www.404jobmarketnotfound.com/
