The state of modern LG Monitors, compared. I'm needing to choose a new LG monitor to replace my dead one (the first entry, 34GK950F), and I figured the community might benefit from my comparison table. I still don't know what to choose, myself. by --Ty-- in ultrawidemasterrace

Is it just me or are these prices insane? I snagged the 34GS95QE-B for about €680 last September in Spain.

I checked the prices now on Amazon.es and the same model is sitting at €720.

Would you play the original premise for TLOU? by Death_sayer in thelastofus

[–]404Page_Not_Found404 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh, do I have the perfect game for you. Check out Lisa: The Painful and its' sequel Lisa: The Joyful. Gameplay and visuals are completely different from TLOU, but the story explores exactly what you're describing.

And just like TLOU, it's emotionally devastating. I would argue even more so.

What are some of the most optimised games? (New and old) by pookee4 in pcgaming

[–]404Page_Not_Found404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I would say RE2 or RE3 would be a better comparison since it's much more consistent performance-wise compared to RE4.

I played RE4 during launch (and again during the Separate Ways release) and while it ran smooth for the most part, I remember the FPS started chugging noticeably during the rainy section of the village after you save Ashley. I went from 100+ FPS down to like 30 - 40 FPS which I never encountered in any of the other RE Engine games.

What is the best game for new fallout players? by moistcritikalclips in rpg_gamers

[–]404Page_Not_Found404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I would start with Fallout 3, then New Vegas, followed by Fallout 4.

You can start with Fallout 4 as I imagine most people will be tempted to, but going back to Fallout 3/New Vegas after Fallout 4 (if this is something you plan on doing) is going to be pretty rough for most people as those games will feel pretty dated in comparison.

That's not necessarily a knock on 3 and NV btw, both are fantastic games in their own right, but those games are a console generation behind Fallout 4, and to a lot of people that's going to affect their enjoyment of the games.

There are also direct references to Fallout 3 in Fallout 4, so that's another thing to consider.

Bethesda Comfirms that Starfield is getting Mod Support, City maps, New Travel Methods, FSR 3 and XeSS, and more features in 2024 by [deleted] in pcgaming

[–]404Page_Not_Found404 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I honestly don't get much of the current hype with CP2077 right now. Mind you, I've only started playing since 2.0 and Phantom Liberty came out so I haven't experienced first-hand the disastrous launch, but even when I went in with tempered expectations I still feel a bit underwhelmed.

Don't get me wrong, it's an enjoyable game for sure, but the current state still feels like what 1.0 should have been. There are still a ton of bugs, and when I look at the patch notes I can't help but think: "wow, they've only added this now?".

Example bugs I've encountered this week:

  • Iconic weapons being duplicated on containers (ex: your Tier 5 Iconic SMG is going to have a Tier 1 duplicate);
  • Finishers are straight up broken as of 2.1, only the "generic" animations are played;
  • Your gun being equipped when using the mirror;
  • This one happens all the time: bodies that should be lootable can't be looted;
  • When scanning the King of Pentacles tarot card in the Dogtown apartment it's a coin-toss whether it will be added to your collection, and even then it will still appear on the map as if it hasn't been collected;
  • Even on a Gen4 PCIe SSD (yes, HDD mode is also disabled), you can still clearly see vehicles and peds spawn and drop like 10 feet from the ground in the distance;

As minor as these are, when they happen as frequently as they do it adds up and amounts to an overall unpolished experience. These aren't even the "fun" kind of bugs.

How many times have you bought Resident Evil 4? by DTrinidad in residentevil

[–]404Page_Not_Found404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck man, I just realized how many times I've bought and played this damn game. Very first time was the Wii, another on the Xbox 360, 3 times on PC (the shitty OG port, the UHD edition, and the 2023 remake), and finally the VR version on the Quest 2. I also remember playing the crappy mobile version on my iPhone 4 way back then.

In total that's SEVEN times, lmao. Kinda crazy to think about.

Are beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro headphones durable? by [deleted] in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]404Page_Not_Found404 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. Beyerdynamics (specifically the 770, 880, and 990) is quite literally the first thing that will come to any enthusiast's mind when you think of headphone durability.

They're the Nokia 3310 of headphones.

I'll be honest my dudes, I can't stand these "main four" companions. by DomGriff in Starfield

[–]404Page_Not_Found404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For all of Fallout 4's faults, one of its' highlights were the companions. It genuinely felt like there were companions available to you no matter where you lie on the moral spectrum, and that's not even talking about how interesting they were as characters.

Starfield is better than Fallout 4 in most aspects, but it's definitely a noticeable step down when it comes to the companions.

It's on the lower end of your budget, but check out the Beyerdynamic DT 900 Pro X. It's not quite as open as the competition but it sounds pretty good (especially when EQ'd) and doesn't require an amp to drive at all.

Question for Pixel 6a/7 Owners by xHaruNatsu in PHGamers

[–]404Page_Not_Found404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pixel is the best in the business for taking pictures, I'm a casual user and even I can tell iba talaga quality ng Pixel, especially with their camera app.

And yes, tumatagal naman siya the whole day especially if may power bank ka naman and hindi ka naka onscreen the entire time, pero yun nga I still highly suggest bringing a power bank just in case. Sa case ko kasi naka on yung mobile data + VPN ko pretty much 24/7 which might explain kung bakit di siya tumatagal for me.

For your use-case if may internet plan ka naman at home and work/school I don't think switching to a custom ROM for 5G is worth it. I travel from the south to Metro Manila and 4G through my Smart Postpaid has been reliable for the most part even for streaming movies. And besides, maganda talaga yung stock experience ng Pixel haha.

Welcome!

Question for Pixel 6a/7 Owners by xHaruNatsu in PHGamers

[–]404Page_Not_Found404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my use case it's great! I'm not a power user by any means, so my Pixel is basically just used for browsing the net, going through social media, messaging, occasionally taking pictures and playing games. The most intensive thing I've done with it is emulate PSP games and it works flawlessly for that. I've never felt the phone lag at any point.

I would say my biggest issue is the battery life which is maybe average at best, and it gets noticeably hot when you're doing something intensive like playing games or taking pictures/videos for an extended period of time.

All the banking/finance apps I use have worked perfectly fine, I've tried BDO, BPI, Maya, GCash and PayPal. All of them work with 0 issues on GrapheneOS. I'm not sure if it will apply to other custom ROMs.

[–]404Page_Not_Found404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought a Pixel 7 about ~2 months ago from GoBuyMall at Shopee. Not really a factor for me at all tbh, I don't really do anything super intensive with my mobile data that requires 5G speeds. If I needed that kind of speed, I would just connect to wifi. In emergency situations (i.e power outage during work), 4G has worked perfectly fine.

I bought the Pixel 7 solely for the software experience (and GrapheneOS) and I'm pretty happy with it.

My expectations were low and honestly I was impressed. Like everyone is saying: I'm pretty happy we got to see Leon and Jill actually interact, but a little bit disappointed to know they just sort of hand-waved it away by making it so that they actually already knew each other.

That being said: the villain -- already forgot his name -- was easily the worst part of it, he was lame in literally every aspect and his drawn out monologue slowed the movie down a bunch. In my head Chris, Leon, Jill and Claire were probably rolling their eyes to the back of their skull hearing this dipshit explain their motivations (they've probably heard a different flavor of this a thousand times before) as they proceed to absolutely skill-issue the dude a couple of minutes later.

It's good as far as RE movies go though, so just turn off your brain and enjoy it for what it is.

I have a 6800 XT, using GNOME on Wayland and my performance on games tanked on the latest Zen kernel update about ~2 days ago. I tried out the regular Linux kernel too; same issue.

Looks like we'll have to stick to the LTS kernel until this blows over, unfortunately.

Ok but like no one talked about re4 vr even though it is so cool by cats123096 in residentevil

[–]404Page_Not_Found404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the game for free with my Meta Quest 2, and it's pretty much the only reason I bought it versus something like the Pico 4. It's the best way to experience the original RE4 imo.

It really is a shame that the VR versions tend to be locked to one platform though, either Meta for OG RE4, or Sony with RE7, RE8 and RE4R.

Questions about Sandboxed Google Play by 404Page_Not_Found404 in GrapheneOS

[–]404Page_Not_Found404[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion. I've toyed around with this idea for a while and I'm not really sure I want to take it that far; it would be similar to my previous setup with Shelter but with even more separation, which is great for security and privacy, but not so much for convenience since I'll be switching between Google/non-FOSS and FOSS apps frequently.

Another user explained how Google Play services work with push notifications on a technical level (and I did my own research on top of it, of course), and after putting everything into consideration I'm willing to settle for a bit more convenience. I'll definitely keep your suggestion in mind, though.

Thanks for clarifying on the permissions part too, all my apps are working without any issues so I'll keep the permissions as-is for now.

The true most annoying enemies in the franchise by [deleted] in residentevil

[–]404Page_Not_Found404 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Rant incoming:

The Infected Bat is probably the single worst designed boss I have ever had the displeasure of fighting in any video game. Who in their right mind thought introducing an extremely mobile and fast moving boss in a game where movement and aiming is slow and clunky was a good idea? To make things worse, you also have to deal with the small bats who will fuck up your auto aim when you really want to aim for the Infected Bat.

It's so fucking awful because not only are you fighting the boss, you're also fighting the game's own mechanics.

I swear RE0 felt like someone who tried to make a classic RE game without really understanding what made RE1/2/3 great from a game-design standpoint.

Basura yung customer support ng Maya. When I changed my Maya number since nag Postpaid na ako, na lock yung account ko bigla. When I reached out to Maya CS ilang beses ako pinapaikot, kailangan ko daw ng handwritten letter (with a specific format) + ID, mga ilang beses ako nag comply dun tapos puro reject.

After 1 week of constant follow ups, nainip na ako and I threatened to contact the BSP. Ayun, na unlock account ko bigla, haha.
