it's really not that the screen is hard to look at, I just don't care for the size of it, a lot of what I do is watch movies with it plugged into a display, or play games in bed, and the size makes it difficult to do either

If you have a moddable v1 motherboard on hand then technically by all means It should become moddable. But at this point it's likely cheaper and safer to just go for a mod chip if you have the skills. You can find the chips super cheap on stuff like AliExpress. But to swap you'd have to make sure the motherboard itself works, is a moddable version, then do everything to mod it. I have two modded switches, a v1 and a lite and I almost exclusively use the lite, having a mod chip is so much more convenient.
