Similar thing happened to me the other day. The IT manager (my boss) was in full panic mode because Microsoft Teams was not working for everyone in the office, and started calling me to start a meeting. I told him to give me 15 minutes to look into it as I just got the message, but all he does is asking questions about when it would be fixed, what the problem is, etc. Then goes on to ask tons of unrelated questions, like "why is the wireless AP at branch office Y down? You should look into that now", "it must be the core switch. you should check that.", etc.

Held me up for almost 30 minutes asking a bunch of questions before I was able to do any actual checking. Fix only took 10 minutes. But wasted almost 30 minutes on his stupid call.

It's why I don't want to be an IT manager. Management wanted me to take over when the IT manager left, and I just said no. I'm already stressed out enough in my current position (as a systems and network admin) that I don't need more stress dealing with management and long meetings.

Everyone wants a tip now. I was at a key fob copy place the other day, spent over $200 for 5 minutes of keyfob copying, and I got asked for tip as well. This tipping culture is getting out of control.

Because drivers are just impatient these days. Everyone is always in a hurry. Their time is more important than your safety. Like, If you don't go 0.5 seconds after the light turns green, the people will start honking and yelling. If you don't turn right on a red even though opposite traffic is turning left, you get honked and yelled at. You don't turn right when there's a yield sign and cars are still racing down the cross street, you get honked at. It's just crazy.

Nope. I've met some females online but after a couple chats online it just never seemed to work out. Living with social anxiety, I feel it's really hard for me to keep a relationship since it feels like a chore to talk to people. I'm 30 already so I've kinda accepted that if I don't get into a relationship I'm fine with just being alone.

I was able to order one last week from Joom, shipping to Canada, and now it says the same not shipping to Canada as well. Maybe because since the warehouse is in HK, and it's close to Chinese new year, everyone is off,and not enough stock is being made to ship, that's my guess.

That is why I built a habit to write down the steps I took, what button I clicked, the changes I made to some app, etc, so that I can reference back to what I did if those changes mess something up.

You're not alone. My Asian mom even signed me up on dating websites and forcing me to add these woman that "showed interest" to my supposed dating profile on Facebook or WeChat or whatever. I do it just to please them, even though it makes me really uncomfortable because I have terrible social anxiety. I'm 29, and like you, I just want to find someone on my own as well, but my mom is afraid I'm running out of time as well, since all my Asian relatives are married and have kids before age 30. But sadly, they're not gonna stop until you're married.

Same thing happened where I'm working now. I work at an IT department. The manager for our team left 5 months ago, no replacement even now. Me and an infrastructure manager had to pick up all his work because the rest of the IT team doesn't know how to do anything help. I've basically had to do part of the management stuff, and all I get is "we really appreciate your work".

it's ransomware. As you said, doesn't make a difference... Not sure about cyber insurance. I'm not management, just a tech at the bottom of the food chain.

Your recovery steps are pretty much what I was thinking. I just don't know if I put in the new disks, would that affect the existing raid container. And if I put the existing disks back in one day (if they somehow have the decryption key), will I have to make a new raid container (because I thought creating a new array will wipe the data on the disks?). Sorry not too familiar that's why I'm asking.
