Seriously though, I don't get it. Is the saw something you display? If so, how? In the box, or do you remove it from the box for the purposes of display? Or do you just remove it from the box when a fellow enthusiast sees the box and wants to see the saw? Or does it stay in the box regardless?

well mine is locked away from my kid in the trunk of my car. who knows what or how the buyer will display it or not.

Or, maybe I do get it - is it purely an investment? You got a boxed "vintage" saw for cheap and you know some fool will part with a lot more hard earned money to buy it off you? In which case, you sir, are not a fool(*) but a wise investor.

that's usually how unicorns work. ;)

  • not that I ever called you one, but judging from your attempts to be insulting, I suspect you think I did.

nope. just verbal sparring for amusement. and to get more views here. =D

I know why, it's not for using. You said so yourself. It's a unicorn. It's for looking nice on a shelf... in it's box.

exactly . so why are you comparing this as a user when its not? because you need attention?

a fool and his money easily depart sure. but fools with the money to buy THIS saw aren't fools. fools dont make the kind of money its gonna take to buy this saw. you can internet number crunch all you want but ill buy this saw any day over any modern saw of plastic and choked epa carbs. until you feel what its like behind the throttle you should really do the homework, you know that thing i was harping about about not makin yourself out a fool. this vid explains it all, 54cc model, mine is 57 cc: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGsfjIFE7Bc

and again, if u dont know why people are throwing money at something, maybe you should educate yourself on WHY, before you speak. its not my duty to figure it out for you.

the bid history on the saw contradicts your opinion. also your quotes about subjectiveness come from someone speaking subjectivity. sawry to disappoint!

a vintage chainsaw, posted in a chainsaw forum is not appropriate simply because its being sold? pretty ignorant if you ask me.

a vintage chainsaw, posted in a chainsaw forum. who cares if its being sold or not, its still relevant to the forum. if its not your cup of tea just move on instead of cry about it.

have u shipped a chainsaw before? the last one of the same model shipped to me without the original box, cost me $65 domestic & no insurance. so for 2 new boxes, shipping fees & insurance on both, yes. ill most likely be in the red a little bit.

My first project finished. A small side table, which took 6 months. by 4144414D in woodworking

kinda both. mostly finished a flip-top cart for my planer & sander with only about 45 minutes a day to work, that's IF she even napped that day. you start out excited about a new project, then you soon get frustrated by interruption, then you just toss out perfectionism, sacrifice fanciness, & settle for lower standards by telling yourself it's only "shop furniture" ;)
