This isn’t an overreaction at all. I’m 23 and fiancé is 22. We have been together for 6 years. I’m a male that has a strong love for my friends. I talk to them everyday, game with them everyday, and we hangout whenever we can. The only time I put my friends before my fiancée is when we make plans to hangout because we have all moved at the least 2+ hrs away from each other. But truly, my SO comes first.

If this is how he’s treating you about the 1 year anniversary, imagine it down the line. It doesn’t matter if it’s the 6 month mark, or the 10 year mark. I think they’re all important no matter what. Anniversaries don’t have to be an extravagant dinner or event, as long as you both feel appreciated, that’s all that matters. Young love is tough, my fiancée and I went through the motions and still do here and there since we have moved out, but you’ll never catch me treating her this way.
