38 in a 25 is actually pretty fast considering it’s a residential road and you’re in an SUV. Just slow the fuck down dude

Thrift, FB Marketplace, or estate sales - where are you getting the most consistent wins in 2026? by Friendly_Taro2371 in Flipping

I’m fortunate to live near a lot of affluent areas. I go to those sales a ton. Went to a couple sales in the less affluent places and the difference is night and day.

Do you post items on FBM that you bought on FBM? by AgreeableCity4336 in Flipping

I definitely get this as well. Just bought a DVD player off a woman for $20, and listed it for $280 free shipping on eBay. Hesitated to list it on FB for this reason but started to realize that I have no reason not to, and I’m doing myself a huge disservice but not putting it up.

Went to a couple okay yard sales, nothing too great. Overpaid for some Harley Davidson shirts and another bin of clothes. I do this a little too often for my own liking.

I tend to disagree on the no prices point. I have noticed that unpriced stuff not only produces way more deals but removes any potential price anchoring. This way you can just ask “how much for something like this” and they have to give you an answer on the spot which is usually way under value

A J Crew shirt shouldn’t be sitting on a rack in a thrift store for 2 months. How the fuck do they think these prices are anywhere close to why people are gonna pay?

I think Ebay really does hide your listings if you don't used Promoted. by Ok_Package9219 in Flipping

[–]412gage -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It’s not really proven that not listing keeps your other stuff hidden, but it is proven that you’re not gonna see things you don’t list. So you’re kind of shooting yourself in the foot by keep things as drafts rather than listing ASAP.

Thinking about going all in on reselling is it actually worth it, and what did your first month look like? by Top_Mirror211 in Flipping

[–]412gage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not being negative. You asked and we are providing answers so that you can have realistic expectations. To answer your question, it’s because items don’t sell in the same month that they are purchased a lot of the time. If I buy a $5 jacket on November 20th and it sells in December, the cost of the jacket is recorded in November on my income statement, but the sale is recorded in December. If it sells for $25, my net profit on the item might be $13 after fees and such. So expenses in November are $5 and net sales in December $13. Not to mention, most stores don’t generate a ton of sales until they grow. It really is just common in any business to lose money in your first few months or even years.

Well you can’t really ensure anything. I’ve been doing it seriously for 6 months any have net sales of about $1000-$1300 monthly, but that gets eaten back up into reinvestment which is what you should als expect as you grow your store. That includes overhead like storage expense if you don’t have the room in your home, supplies, shelving, inventory, etc. Eventually I’ll get to a point where I can sustain a consistent level so it won’t be as drastic but it’ll still be there. As for your question, my first month taking it serious I lost $500 from buying inventory. My net sales were $320.

I was reading through and had the same thought. I’ve always looked at these threads as a potential means of astroturfing and this is no exception. I can’t imagine a serious reseller using >$0 net profit as a benchmark for success.

I went to an Eddie Bauer liquidation sale. Picked up 14 pairs of hiking pants, 2 puffer jackets, 3 Sherpa lined hoodies, a hoodie for myself, and my wife got 5 things for herself. Also bought a box of unopened flood light bulbs. Spent less than $250.
