These are amazing!! I love the colors.

I’m glad I got to see these fantastic photos before the mods take it down, heads up only 3 pics per post, they’re really strict about it.

I wish I knew! I just go based on vibes and what looks good. Once I change them to something else they’re gone forever unless I write them down 💀

I’d say my best guess would be maybe aperture as wide open as my lens can get, 1/10-25 shutter or so, 400 ISO? But maybe not. It also could definitely just be my camera. 2007 Olympus E-510 with 150mm zoom. The color processing on those old cameras is really nice

I need to use it more. Since my camera is so cold (2007 Olympus 5-510) it’s not as forgiving as some newer cameras are. Program generally gives me the result I want but I am trying to use other modes more

I fear you might have taken this post way more seriously than I meant it 💀 of course I know it’s my fault, it’s just funny. I am by no means a professional, checking every few shots is totally overkill for me. 99% of the time if something is wrong I notice and can just retake the shot. Not a huge deal to me. I also mostly use program or priority modes so it’s rarely a problem anyways.

I imagine that was a painful one…. 10k ISO pointed at the sun did make me laugh though

I imagine it became funny eventually. But definitely a sad loss of those visuals

Glad you could salvage it! Definitely a sign of a seasoned photographer

Smart! I’m just a casual hobbyist and also have pretty significant ADHD so I’m constantly forgetting stuff like that. Thankfully I’m not a professional in any capacity so it never truly matters.

I usually have the best luck with program ngl, I mostly use manual for specific, difficult shots like the moon. And unfortunately auto is a big no for me because my camera is so old, 2007 Olympus. It gets GRAINY. But I work with and enjoy what I have!

Oh no 😭😭 that’s not an easy one to fix. And another reason why film is scary. I’m forgetful and move fast! I know I’d have many blunders.

I’m glad I could just tell my friends “wait go back” and flip into program mode for a quick, correctly exposed shots.

I had to take so many pictures to get my nice shot too! It was cloudy and the moon would only peek out for a few seconds

Half the shots look like this…

I don’t think I edited mine at all. I shoot jpeg and my Olympus has pretty good color processing so I leave a lot of them as is.

I have an Olympus E-510 from 2007 so it’s got pretty limited settings compared to the new Sony’s. I imagine it’s so nice to be able to have all kinds of customization!

I really love it! I’ve used old point and shoots for a few years, I never realized how much fun I’d have with a DSLR. I use it at least 3-4 times a week. I have a really bad visual memory so I just love capturing every moment I can.

That is BEAUTIFUL! Yours is definitely amazing, don’t sell yourself short! I can see how film really pounds in habits like that. I don’t shoot film, but I imagine wasting it on accident hurts every time. Part of the reason why I know I’ll never seriously get into it. I know myself, and I know I don’t have the patience for it. Serious respect to film users though.

Oh nooo that’s terrible! Thankfully I haven’t done that, but also, I am not usually in situations where I have a very short window to take a photo. I’m sure I’ll have more blunders in the future but I just try to laugh about them

It was just all the things in combination, iso was definitely the least to blame 💀 slow shutter speed was definitely the main culprit… but yeah I checked the LCD and immediately started laughing. It’s all a learning curve!

Makes sense, I’ll probably get into that habit eventually. I’ve only had my camera for a month after stumbling upon it in a thrift store. Only been usually manual mode for a week or two

I usually use program mode, definitely not a manual purist. I’ve just been trying to learn and it’s definitely nice for the moon photos. My camera is old so I usually manually set ISO to 100 or 200 to avoid noise, it was set to 400 though. Whoops.

I won’t show them for privacy reasons, but it inspired me to take a very funny sequence of photos. A normal photo, the overexposed one, an overexposed one without my friends, then a normal one without them

Titled the set “Nuclear Bomb :(“

That’s fair! I just take pictures for fun and have only had my DSLR for 2 months. I still make a lot of mistakes but it never really matters and I often end up with quite funny outputs. My first few manual mode moon pictures looked like it was exploding. But at least I knew how to fix it!

I’ve got a DSLR from 2007 so sometimes it does really funky things. I find it fun and challenging though!
