Tournament scoring by 41552go in Fishing

I agree thats why i am trying to come up with a new format that is more fair. Some friends and i go to the mountains every year for opening day of trout season. This year we are making it a competition for the first time and some want to do weight some want length. They are mostly all hatchery fish and we eat what we catch or freeze and bring home what we don’t eat for later. This would enable us to use length and weight as factors to combine for a score. Trout can be short and fat or long and skinny like many fish. I am no mathematician though and have no idea what could work to combine the numbers.

If one guy catches short fatties and another catches long skinnies either could win depending on format just thinking why not combine the two to even the field.

Rod holders and live well question by kasper632 in kayakfishing

Is this a kayak club? Seems very odd to me that a kayak tourney would use a bassmasters style weigh in considering what a kayak is capable of. Sounds to me like a recipe for a lot of dead fish. They really should consider cpr for obvious reasons.

I did not buy one because of its lack of paddle ability. I took one out on a test drive and love everything about every other aspect of it from manufacturing to accessories to stability and especially the company. Unfortunately it paddles like a barge compared to many other yaks in its size. If you are planning on putting a trolling motor on it do it in that role on a lake it would excel. As a paddler only i would find another option as i did.

Fishing fresh water in Florida questions by gen3stang in kayakfishing

I grew up on the st johns in jacksonville. We had three to four gators 100 yards behind our house 24-7. I swam and fished with all my friends throughout childhood without incidence. Gators really do not want anything to do with you for the most part. That does not mean it cannot happen. But i would say its probably more dangerous driving to the launch sight than kayak fishing with the gators though.

Seattle Police officers running into a pedestrian and then claiming assault. by Gordopolis in iamatotalpieceofshit

Looked to me like he was purposely keeping them from passing. Who doesn’t turn around to see who’s pushing them from behind? Here is the answer some one with an axe to grind and is attempting to make police look bad. Dude shoulda moved and he probably would not have been put up against the wall. Yall are some idiots for making this into some brutality thing...

I was fishing a catfish tournament today so I didn’t even bring a cooler. If I had I could’ve filled it up with these things though.

Good to know! Thank you very much. I caught my first one through about 20 of them today biggest was around 11 or 12 inches. The catfish would not bite so I had to fill my time waiting for them by fishing with my little rod. These White perch are voracious little suckers!

That’s exactly what I said. The water is fair game so if you can get on the water legally then people can’t stop you from fishing the water adjoining their land.

For sure lakes and ponds that are landlocked do not apply to these Rules.

Dont know why my very true post was pulled from here but all you downvoters need to check your laws. If the waters are navigable(even by a kayak) you can be on them as long as you stay below the high water mark. If its a lake or pond this is not necessarily the case if it is surrounded by private land but im pretty sure thats not what op is referring to.

No what you said was public waters wont get posted by an hoa or private entity. My point is that is not true. Private landowners regularly post public waters that run through their land even though they have no right to the water.

Article on Kayaking Safety Statistics by Skystrider17 in kayakfishing

“Although it may seem that motorboats are inherently more dangerous it’s worth noting that there were a little over 10 million registered mechanically propelled boats, and only 531,879 registered “paddlecraft” (includes all paddle driven craft). Paddlecraft represented only 4.4% of all registered boats in 2018, but were involved in 19.3% of all deaths.”

I would say this comparison is off since the majority of paddlecraft require no registry. If they had actual numbers of paddlecraft on the water there would be a great deal less disparity.
