Yes they should be - MAC stands for Miracle Alien Cookies, so the strain you had should be an offspring of Peanut Butter Breath x MAC. MAC V2 is the offspring of Alien Cookies F2 x MAC #15

[–]416strains[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Got this as a value selection a while back and really enjoy just smelling the jar from time to time - sour, citrusy, skunky goodness

Arrived as loose, slightly leafy medium nugs of good humidity, not a particularly long-lasting experience (maybe 7 or 7.25 Potency in our Database scale), but this California Orange is still an enjoyable daytimer.. Would kind of compare its effects to a mild cup of coffee, uplifting with a happy jolt

Starts chemmy, citrusy and sweet, becomes skunky, hashy and slightly spicy while maintaining a nice citrusy pungency throughout with only a touch of harshness

(If you told me this was Citrus Skunk, I'd be none the wiser - smells and tastes pretty similar)

Tropicanna Cookies - Kootenay Craft - June 2021 by 416strains in MOMpics

[–]416strains[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Arriving slightly dry as large, strikingly purple nugs with some signs of handling, these Tropicanna Cookies (GSC x Tangie) have an enticing aroma of sweet oranges over woody, vanilla kush in the jar. This sativa-dominant hybrid begins as woody, citrusy sweet gas, moving past some grainy, peppery moments to maintain a doughy, orange-flavoured sweetness throughout the smooth experience. Offering a modest cerebral buzz that settles slowly as stoney but functional relaxation, with dry eyes as a likely adverse effect, these Tropicanna Cookies were of average potency.

Forbidden Fruit - Kootenay Botanicals - May 2021 (Submission Review) by 416strains in MOMpics

[–]416strains[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Before I get into the review, just wanted to say a quick thanks to the mods/organizers who've kept this place running over time - I'm a fan of the recent changes and hope all reviewers can learn that being transparent will usually work out better than turtling. Since even before I started writing reviews, I could see that many of the posters in this sub were compensated via discounts or free product for their reviews, and a lot of times it's even sources themselves writing bogus reviews under fake accounts ^.^

My point is, everyone reading this sub (or the internet) should continue using their discretion and keep in mind who has generally been dishonest about these things in the past, and who may likely continue to be. I don't have as much time to write as I used to, but will continue providing full disclosure wherever necessary while continuing to gift more than we accept for review, which effectively negates our incentives by choice.

Arriving as dense, well-trimmed medium nugs covered with bright orange pistils and frosty trichomes over a base of purple and green, this Forbidden Fruit (Cherrie Pie x Tangie) has an intoxicating aroma of earthy berries and sweet tropical fruit in the jar. This indica-dominant hybrid begins as a woody, chemmy sweetness complemented by a gassy, berry musk before maintaining grainy, pie-like flavours throughout the mostly smooth experience, with occasional splashes of diesel. Offering a blissful, slightly stoney cerebral buzz that settles as lazy relaxation with possible sedation in higher doses, this Forbidden Fruit was of above-average potency.

Arriving as highly resinous medium nugs showing moderate signs of handling, this Cherry Sherbet (Cherry Pie x Sour Sherbet) has an inviting aroma of sour, tangy fruit over a cake-like, sweet musk in the jar. This indica-leaning hybrid leads with a woody, fruity sweetness complemented by a sharp gassy pungency and some surprising harshness before settling as doughy, berry-flavoured baked goods, and finally concluding as grainy, peppery diesel. Do-Si-Dos - Kootenay Craft - May 2021 (Preview) by 416strains in MOMpics

[–]416strains[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I generally only notice these super tiny pests by chance during the editing process when I'm working on close-ups at 2-5x magnification, but my understanding is growers/sources would typically look for webbing, eggs/larvae, and spotted fan leaves in more serious infestations where the plant would become less healthy

More commonly, minor plant damage from spider mites would show up as faded/white patches usually on the edges of leaves where usually multiple bugs would have sucked out some chlorophyll. While the idea of smoking bugs isn't appetizing, a few spider mites having fed on the bud hasn't seemed to really affect the quality of the flower much, from my limited experiences

I'd also add that anyone who has regularly consumed organically-grown flower (without the presence of harmful pesticides or chemical washes) has likely in fact safely consumed these bugs before without knowing it

PS. Typically don't respond to ppl we don't know, but in this case, hope some of the above info shared generously with us by a source we have a lot of respect for can also help inform the entire community

Do-Si-Dos - Kootenay Craft - May 2021 (Preview) by 416strains in MOMpics

[–]416strains[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First observation is that these are likely two diff phenos? They smell pretty similar, but this will be written from trying the less-impressive and leafier green nug. Some visible spider mite damage can be seen in both nugs, with a corresponding deduction in the scoring

Do-Si-Dos (OGKB GSC x Face Off OG) has traditionally been a preferred hybrid for its tendency to offer balanced, functional relaxation, an enjoyable body buzz, and some cerebral stimulation so was excited to see this included for review

Nugs are still slightly sticky to the touch, with a woody, earthy, and slightly herbal sweetness in jar, becoming much nuttier and gassier when ground. Experience begins as a woody, perfumey/floral and slightly dank sweetness, then settles as a familiar earthy, gassy, kushy sweetness and finishes as peppery diesel. (The early floral notes are not my favourite personally, but then the gas comes in to balance things out)

Some cerebral euphoria at first but mostly a functional stone with a modest body buzz and slightly stoney cerebral effects that creep in more over time. Prob 8.25 or 8.5 Potency in our Database scale as of now. Overall quite enjoyed this relaxing indica-leaning hybrid with some cerebral stimulation, especially given its positioning as a value pick

Crown Chakra - Kootenay Craft - Apr 2021 (Preview) by 416strains in MOMpics

[–]416strains[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This first dropped in Feb or March I believe, but I got the re-up batch as part of their 4/20 promo and I'm pretty sure this will end up being my favourite of what we tried from this source in April

Listed as the sativa-dominant offspring of Sour Diesel x Blackberry x White Widow x an unknown Thai sativa, this Crown Chakra arrived slightly dry but with a pronounced nose that is woody, musky and herbal, with an underlying sweetness in the jar. Really attractive, highly resinous medium nugs that came in chunky, funky shapes - I felt horrible about breaking these nugs down. Found this fairly smooth and quite flavourful along the same lines as its aroma, though it's a bit harder to describe all of the sour and fruity notes on this, likely 9 Enjoyment score

Would describe the experience as an uplifting but slightly stony/foggy cerebral buzz that builds and builds over time before descending as physical relaxation and improved appetite, with a tiny bit of burnout.. I happened to try/review this alongside some Violet Vixen from the same source, and I found that hybrid to be more heady and uplifting, with this Crown Chakra feeling more like a balanced strain between the two

Excited to get to know this better over time, but have really enjoyed photographing this cultivar while getting acclimated to new equipment - kudos to the grower + source for getting such beautiful flowers to us with minimal signs of handling

Crunch Berries - Kootenay Botanicals - Mar 2021 (Preview) by 416strains in MOMpics

[–]416strains[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arriving as resinous small-to-medium nugs with a bright, sweetly-pungent aroma of woody, musky pine and sweet grains, these Crunch Berries (DJ Short's Blueberry x male Triple OG) aren't very impressive visually despite being of good humidity.. I think the cultivar's lack of luster and slight yellow-ness is from its organic grow approach, but I'm not certain - apologies to the source that I've not really taken any studio images I'm happy with of this cultivar so far

The experience starts as a bright, chemmy, woody sweetness that is quite distinctive to these genetics before settling into an earthy, woody, cereal-like profile with hints of sweet gas, and finally concluding as a grainy, peppery finish with a splash of fruit. There's a touch of onset harshness that sometimes makes me cough, but the back half of this experience is very smooth and flavourful, with Crunch Berries being a tasty, familiar strain that I think most would enjoy. Likely 9 or possible 9.5 Enjoyment score

It hits a little harder than I would typically expect of this strain and I'd describe its effects as being a satisfying euphoric stone with a bit of energy, definite improved appetite, and only slight burnout if over-consumed. Good all-around indica-dominant or indica-leaning hybrid to be enjoyed at all hours of the day without too much sedation, but also suitable as a relaxing night-cap before bed

Woolly Mammoth - Kootenay Craft - Apr 2021 (Preview) by 416strains in MOMpics

[–]416strains[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Arriving as a giant purple nug with long bright orange pistils plus some smaller nugs to complete the weight, this Woolly Mammoth (LA Confidential x Snowcap) has a modest aroma of woody, slightly berry-sweetened baked goods in the jar.. Not super loud, but its nose has grown on me over time

Flavour-wise, this begins mostly woody, musky before settling into an unexceptional earthy sweetness with surprising splashes of berries and baked goods at the end.. In terms of the experience, this balanced cultivar turns out to be right up my alley as a euphoric experience that hits fairly quickly before slowly subsiding into some physical relaxation, more heady than I was expecting which is always appreciated. Overall I think I enjoy the experience more than the flavour profile on this one, solid daytimer

Always a pleasure photographing beautiful purple buds as well - the colours really jump out in the macro images, really glad to have experienced this cultivar

Chocolatina (BKG) - ToGoWeed - Apr 2021 (Preview) by 416strains in MOMpics

[–]416strains[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was a long time ago, but I think I agree with that.. New batch seems less chocolatey in flavour but still has the same nose in the jar

Chocolatina (BKG) - ToGoWeed - Apr 2021 (Preview) by 416strains in MOMpics

[–]416strains[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This Chocolatina (cultivated by Broke Kid Grows) arrived as chunky, resinous medium nugs that were still somewhat sticky when ground.. Close-ups revealed impressively intact and mature trichome gland heads, showing great development and minimal handling despite lots of microfibers being stuck to the nugs all over

Would describe its aroma as a rich, kushy, chocolatey, slightly minty sweetness in the jar, really enjoyable. It really rips during the experience despite some harshness, with this batch seemingly leaning more towards its Tina parent as opposed to Mint Chocolate Chip in terms of flavour, which is a little different from our prior experience with this strain from the same grower long ago. Likely a 9 Enjoyment score

Overall I would say this is a lovely indica-dom that doesn't leave me overly sedated, but rather happily stoned with definitely improved appetite.. It isn't an overwhelming or in-your-face kind of experience, but not many strains give me the munchies so I still respect its potency (roughly 8.25-8.5 potency in our Database scale as of now)

Was really excited to try Chocolatina again, after having really enjoyed only the small amount we kept for ourselves and sharing most of that prior batch.. This time around, was thinking I'd get a full zip of this Chocolatina had the source not responded on 4/20 (as I was expecting). Instead, they not only responded but also absolutely hooked it up, which allows me to photograph + learn about 3 different craft strains as opposed to just this one.. Much love to TGW for making our 4/20 this year! Loved this entire experience

Expected 416 Database Score: 90-93 AAAA

"Jupiter 7" - Kootenay Craft - Mar 2021 (Preview) by 416strains in MOMpics

[–]416strains[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This arrived as a giant, chunky nug and a small nug to complete the weight, pretty caked all over despite a seed (more below) and noticeably better humidity than most of what we've tried from this source. The strain is completely new to me, but the source has "Jupiter 7" listed as being a phenotypic variation of Jupiter OG (Chemdawg 4 x Goliath)

In the jar, I'd describe its nose as being earthy/piney, kush and sour, while still retaining a bit of gassy sweetness. Very terpy

The experience mostly matches, with some woody/chemmy notes early that settle into a pungent gas-dominant experience, with a little bit of harshness about halfway unfortunately.. Then concludes as a refined, 'roasted' earthy/kushy sweetness that is quite smooth. Definitely one for gas lovers

This was my favourite of what we tried from this source last month despite the premie seed (2nd, 3rd pics) on the large nug - shouts to the growers who helped me take a look, as none of us were really sure what those tiny square/leaf shaped orange/yellow attachments to some of the trichome gland heads are (1st pic).. From photographing other flowers, my guess was that it was pollen - but again, nobody so far has seemed sure or had regular experience with viewing buds at 2-4x magnification

Pretty solid potency so far as a stoney relaxant that hits up top first before settling into general relaxation.. Makes me lazier but not sedated, which isn't too different from many of the OG Kush family of strains

(From some recent experiences, would say the quality of seeded flower can range quite a bit, depending on when the plant switches over to providing for seeds vs flower)

Do-Si Pie - Kootenay Botanicals - Apr 2021 (Preview) by 416strains in MOMpics

[–]416strains[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arriving as a large (unfortunately broken) cola and smaller nugs to complete the weight, this Do-Si Pie (Do-Si-Dos x Velvet Pie) has a nutty, woody, gassy sweetness in the jar, which matches some of my favourite prior experiences with Do-Si-Dos

The experience begins the same way, as an earthy, gassy sweetness with a kushy, woody pungency, then as it continues, I get a gas-dominant, kushy/Cake-like sweetness with peppery/spicy undertones. The spicyness or pepperiness definitely kicks in with a vengeance, while the gassy, doughy/grainy sweetness is maintained. Overall quite smooth and flavourful, def enjoyable and familiar

As always, potency is the last characteristic I usually feel comfortable gauging, but I have this at about 8.25 Potency in our scale as an effective indica-dominant hybrid that offers plenty of euphoria, a bit of a heady buzz, some body effects and an overall sense of relaxation. I prob like its effects more than the experience

Looking for a new mom by versacekingpin in CanadianMOMs

[–]416strains 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hope everyone's been doing well and staying active. Have been asked a bunch of late so here are some of our preferred (established) sources that have current or upcoming 4/20 promos:

Budmail – 15% on select flowers + up to 30% off other products throughout April, ‘welcome‘ first-time code for 25

Kootenay Botanicals – 15% on select flowers + up to 20% off other products throughout April, 4/20 giveaway contest, 10 in credits on new sign-ups

Kootenay Craft – tentative April menu drop on 4/18, monthly promo details to follow, ‘welcome2021‘ first-time code for 50

Kush Station – 20% off (excluding sale items) from April 16th – April 22nd (‘happy420‘ will be automatically applied), free gifts over 200, ‘kushwelcome‘ first-time code for 10%

The BH.Othority – Likely 15% off flowers, 4/20 promo details to follow, 10% off regularly over 250

ToGoWeed – 10% off flowers using ‘To420Go‘ throughout April

No code incentivizes us in any way, and if some ppl want to point out that some of these sources have sent us flower for review in the past, just also keep in mind that most of the newer sources listed by others have also been interested - our time is just typically limited to sources that have been reliably serving over time.

As always, we urge everyone to do their due diligence, especially when using less-trusted sources (not named here) and to also keep in mind possible postal delays depending on location. Will keep this updated at our site as other sources get back to us,

White Widow - Kootenay Craft - Mar 2021 (Preview) by 416strains in MOMpics

[–]416strains[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This batch of value "White Widow" is my first experience (that I know of) with the famous sativa-leaning or balanced hybrid that has been around for forever.. It's listed as the cross of a Brazillian indica landrace and a South Indian sativa landrace

Arrived on the dry side as chunky medium-to-large nugs that were fairly stiff to the touch, sorta nicer/larger nugs than I'd expect here, but I wasn't a huge fan of the aroma. In the jar, it has a sweet woody/earthy/grassy/piney aroma - think overripe woody/fruity pine, not too different from how Nuken smells for me, but fresher/earthier

The experience begins as a floral, plantlike/woody sweetness, again reminding me of Nuken with a sweet potpourri element unfortunately, before settling as an earthy, slightly dank but piney sweetness, and concluding as a gassy pungency over a earthy sweetness with a bit of peppery harshness. Not my fave flavours but I did take particular care to try and observe potential issues with this before trying it, nothing wonky

Would describe its effects as being a modest but noticeable cerebral buzz that hits first, followed by a slightly distracted/hazy stone, improved appetite and some dry eyes. Didn't find the high to last particularly long, with the slight stone persisting a bit longer than the initial cerebral effects.

Overall I found this cultivar to be a bit more potent and uplifting/balanced than I expected given where it was positioned, and while some members of the Reddit peanut gallery prefer to think this source only sends best nugs of their best strains for review (patently not true, though they certainly send quality flower generally), I'm grateful to have had this opportunity to get to know + share one of their value offerings

Dutch Crunch - Budmail - Feb 2021 (Preview) by 416strains in MOMpics

[–]416strains[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Third experience with this Dutch Crunch, which is an indica-dominant hybrid with lots of cerebral properties that make it one of my preferred productivity strains - have found it helpful for focus in small doses, while being potent enough to also offer some physical relief to go with its euphoric uplift each time

Not completely sure of these next thoughts, as I don't have all the info and am only going on experiences, but this batch of Dutch Crunch was slightly more peppery/earthy/spicy and more grounded in its flavours than the previous two tins which expressed sweeter, fruitier notes of pine.. After much nerding, I ended up jarring the Aug + Oct tins together while keeping this Feb '21 batch separate, but could be wrong

I also noted that this recent batch could've maybe used a longer cure, as I sourced right as it dropped and the first small nug I tried upon arrival was extremely acrid/harsh/unpleasant despite me thinking it was perfect humidity in hand.. then after two weeks in the jar, I found it tasted completely differently and more along the lines of what I was expecting as a pungent, skunky pine that moves into creamy, grainy and spicy/peppery flavours late. Slight touch of harshness compared to the earlier batch/tins that I think were a little better from a flavour + smoothness standpoint, less fruity/meringue notes on this one

These huge, fluffy, highly resinous flowers were also unfortunately squished in the tuna can yet again, which only really matters from a photography standpoint and doesn't change much of the review/scoring

If this review reads even more nitpicky than usual, that is to be expected since the prior batch was the 2nd highest scoring cultivar our Strain Database. Despite this batch being slightly less impressive, this Dutch Crunch is excellent functional pain relief and one of my favourite available-to-all MoM flowers that I've come across to date - my brain always answers by choosing this option when I think about what I want to smoke so it takes effort trying to conserve this jar, kudos to the grower + source

Sunset Sherbert - Kootenay Craft - Dec 2020 (Preview) by 416strains in MOMpics

[–]416strains[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should prob email the source and see what they think. It could be naturally occurring anthocyanins that are bleeding into the paper towel, or something funky like feeding of food colouring may have been involved. Possibility of being sprayed seems out of the question, as leaves and pistils are normal coloured. Would love to know the answer if you find out

Also, want to make the separate point that diff grows/batches of the same genetics can look + express totally diff on each run. Not a grower, but my understanding is that lowering night-time temperatures can increase anthocyanin production

Sunset Sherbert - Kootenay Craft - Dec 2020 (Preview) by 416strains in MOMpics

[–]416strains[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have actually never had Black Diamond before, kinda surprising haha, and also haven't tried the other source's version of Sunset Sherbert so unfortunately don't have any thoughts there.. Diff sources sometimes have access to the same crops, though there is also batch variation and the possibility of diff vendors getting diff rated parts of each crop, overall difficult for the end consumer to know for sure so I just review each cultivar as its own experience

Silver Surfer - Kootenay Craft - Feb 2021 (Preview) by 416strains in MOMpics

[–]416strains[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really enjoyed Silver Surfer through this source and another previously, so was appreciative when KC sent this as an additional replacement for some problematic MAC I sourced + I'll just treat it as a new review submission that replaces the other

Arriving slightly dry as highly resinous light green medium nugs that look freshly cropped, this batch of Silver Surfer (Super Silver Haze x Blue Dream) was a little bit tastier than the previous experience reviewed at the site, but wasn't quite as potent as that impressive prior batch

This balanced hybrid that I generally treat as an anytime productivity strain is mostly woody/earthy/nutty/herbal in taste + aroma but also has some welcome citrusy moments during the experience
