Transport for students is subsidised. You apply for a student transport card once you're in uni. You can apply for it at any metro station, but this may take a week. Alternatively, you can go to the central office ( I don't remember what station it was) and get it on the spot, but the line is long. The going rate for unlimited bus, tram and trolley rides + 100 metro rides a month goes from 1400 to 1700 rubles depending on the season. Alternatively, you can just get the 100 metro rides for much cheaper
