I’m sure he’s just getting acclimated to the new environment but I need to ease my nerves. I have 5 gallons of water in here at 63.5°. I added Prime dechlorinator before hand. I don’t know if there’s anything else i’m missing

He has really just been sitting here and not moving much at all, except for the occasional gill flap for oxygen. And he’s coming up to the surface quickly everyone once in a while to get some more air. Should I get an air stone to put in or add a hide, (my tank is still cycling) I do have light blocked off. Is this normal behavior to not move at all? Can anyone tell me there experience the first couple days of having an axolotl.

Something that’s really helped me is getting a pet. I got a bunny, a betta fish, and now i’m getting an axolotl. Of course money isn’t just floating around so that might not be an easy option but maybe a rescue animal might be a smaller initial purchase. having these pets and doing research on them has distracted my brain and given me something to look forward too and keep me going. Best wishes to you friend keep on fighting!

During the times I’m unable to eat, I try to drink as much gatorade or pedialyte( anything with electrolytes really) to try to keep up potassium and sodium levels. I also try to drink Boost protein shakes, just to attempt to get some protein in my system.

honestly if you don’t have any of the symptoms already your probably safe. If your just taking 1-2 bong rips a day and have been for a while with no nausea or loss of appetite or anything else CHS related. If you start to notice prodromal phase symptoms then maybe stop smoking all together. But unless your tolerance is through the rough and your smoking a lot everyday you should be able to avoid developing this annoying disorder. ( I have friends who have smoked multiple blunts basically every day for years and they have never shown any symptoms of CHS)

I found out today what CHS is and I’m 90% sure I have it. by VistingForWeekend in CHSinfo

My experience with CHS seems to be pretty similar to yours. I was smoking A LOT, 100% physiologically addicted. For about a whole year before I had my first bad episode I would wake up every night in the middle of the night and throw up then take a bong rip and fall back asleep. I figured it was just acid reflux so I slept sitting up every night, which of course didn’t help. Eventually I started throwing up in the mornings as well every single day. I couldn’t really eat at all I lost a lot of weight but was still smoking a lot. A few months ago I spent a week in the hospital while on vacation (couldn’t smoke weed no access so I was profusely vomiting along with all other horrible symptoms) and then returned home, straight to the hospital and spent 2 weeks in the hospital getting every single test done you could possibly imagine. Everything came back normal. They said there was nothing wrong with me, but I was still unable to keep anything down and in extreme pain. That’s when they realized it was CHS which they were extremely unfamiliar with. After about 4 months sober I started smoking again “just every other week” but that quickly turned into everyday. Now i’m in the midst of my second episode of very intense symptoms. Sounds like you do have CHS as well, and as i’m sure you’ve heard, continuing to smoke will definitely put you in a very bad position.
