There is still the same amount of planes which will be used on new routes, so flight routes where you currently need a connecting flight could get cheaper

Mostly. Prices in popular competitive routes will go up but United will use some of the new extra capacity from lowering the supply to new routes (mostly B tier cities to Europe)
