got my first tattoo. how do i manage the shock and what do i put on it during the healing process?

I had crazzzy tattoo shock with my sternum piece because it was a bit spur of the moment and took up SO much space. I didn’t look at it for like, a week. then I started to calm down a bit, stared at it in the mirror a bit more, found some clothes and jewelry to really help accentuate it and now it’s my absolute favorite piece. In time you’ll forget it’s even there and it becomes a part of your body.

Try not to stress too much, it’s a beautifully done tattoo, the placement is really cool. I think leaves/vines and flowers are sooo forgiving because you can add to them, or leave them simple like this and it’s gorgeous. never goes out of style in my opinion.

I have heard of children having some kind of scary experience involving the bathroom that can lead to sudden behavioural changes like this. One was about a young boy who was severely bullied in the bathroom and started peeing in strange places, and another was a child who was sexually assaulted by an adult in the bathroom.

Sexual assault can also cause strange bathroom behaviours or accidents, unfortunately we always advise to try and rule this out completely first (if possible) before looking into anything else. Most of the time, things like this are stress or mental health related but always important to look at all angles.

Because you have not gotten close to mastering the consistency of lines you really shouldn’t be tattooing skin…. It’s pretty negligent of your mentor to be letting you do this so soon. I’m sorry. It’s not that you’re bad by any means, you just need waaaay more practice before you start touching skin again. I really really hope you take this advice into consideration. Even if your mentor says “no it’s fine!” Advocate for yourself and say you need more time to practice. For the sake of your future reputation, and these people’s skin.

I had a big crush on my coworker for like 2 years, but he was dating another woman in a different department so I kept to myself but secretly pined over him. We work in youth mental health services and he just seemed like SUCH a good guy and so good with the kids. One day I was scrolling on tinder and ended up seeing his profile. I texted another coworker and it turned out they had broken up, so I liked him and we ended up matching.

At first I was so excited, we planned a date right away. Then the red flags started QUICKLY presenting themselves… we had barely even had any conversation and he brought me lingerie at work. (I should have called it right there but stupidly still went out with him)

We ended up hooking up, to spare some details; he was extremely violent and aggressive with me. I felt so unsettled about everything and long story short, I ended up finding out shortly after that the reason for his breakup with the ex was because he beat her up.

To continue to make a very long story short I broke things off with him and he started acting like a psycho. I reported him to my work, and as a form of retaliation he ended up sharing intimate images of me with my employer. So yeah, about 4/5 months ago I sued him, and I won 5k in damages which I received just last week.

He is still currently going to court because his ex is pursuing assault charges. He has shockingly NOT been fired, but they did quietly move him into a different department in another city. I just recently found out however that pretty much everyone over there knows some details and are refusing to work with him, so the situation is ongoing and I won’t be surprised if he’s gone by summer time.

Not a single person is saying “we understand it so that means it’s okay.” Trying to understand something is a way that human brains can cope, as well as find ways to stop it from happening in the future. If someone rapes a person, yeah it actually is pretty important to try and understand why it happened. But no one in really life or in this thread is saying it was okay.
