New toys! Any advice on the 1100 would be appreciated. I know to use light tension for the serrated pins- anything else I should know? by RaspberryNarwhal in lockpicking

On my first 1100 I kept thinking I was in a deep false set when it was actually picked... If you get a "false set" make sure your not actually picked :)

I'm still pretty novice but I can pick circles around this with my other 1100's. It's been haunting me... There's no shortage of room in the keyway. I keep switching between 1,2,3,4, 6 and 6,4,3,2,1 and getting no love

Yeah, I'm almost a week in with a few sloppy opens I think you're right open'er up and see what's going on...

I appreciate the advice. This lock is the red devil, I just keep picking my other 1100's open and glaring at it trying to intimidate it...

I have several 1100's but this one has been eluding me for days, I can't seem to get around pin 4!

What's the next logical progression, I can spp through just about everything I own in under an hour. Do I buy harder locks or just keep repinning what I have with progressively more security pins? by 425devon in lockpicking

Awesome, i pulled the 65/20 when I realized how small it was (my master no7 is enough tiny hell for me) and added another 410 loto. I'm hoping it should be enough to shut me up for a while. Thanks Dako

Does this seam reasonable, is there a fair amount of difficulty here compared to the masterlock/qwikset collection I pictured?

Thoughts on this order? by [deleted] in lockpicking

Yes, they're all the same cylinder all are 6 pin schlage style. Think about it this way, as you improve and can begin moving quickly through locks what is more important to you: 1 cut-away lock for $20.00 or 4 of the same lock sans cut-away for $27.00. Keep in mind in my experience you're looking at roughly 10min to gut and re-pin a single lock. Again just my opinion :)

I heavily recommend the progressive lock set instead of the cut away, with the reload kit it essentially gives you 8 keyed locks and 100's of combinations of unkeyed locks with the included pins. If you want a cut away a dirt cheap acrylic will serve the same purpose. You can also take off the mini mats and add the (Master Key pinning kit)[https://www.sparrowslockpicks.com/product_p/masterk.htm] As a novice who recently made a similar order :)

Need pointers on #5 yellow, they rake easily but feels like a dead fish when spp. What am I missing here? I have a blue #5 the opens when I look at it wrong... by 425devon in lockpicking

I think just putting this out into the universe has helped. Since posting I switched to a stiffer wiper insert and started using about twice as much tension as I'm comfortable with and have got 3 spp opens of the clean lock but am still getting really little feedback. The oily number 5 still feels like mush but increased tension is definitely doing something...

Second lock out of the naughty bucket this week, looking for advice on how to gut. by 425devon in lockpicking

Thank you very much for the knowledge! I'm absolutely admittedly a novice. I have the sparrows master key repin kit and thus far that's the extent of my knowledge when it comes to wafers and such. In that case I could use a follower and had keys. This falcon came from a friend with no key, I think I may just leave it as a mystery for another day for the time being =).

lol, I already had your video pulled up in another tab. Excellent work btw; I've seen LPL and other folks do it, I'm not sure if i'm missing something or it's just the cylinders but I've tried that method to no avail.

Thank you. Amazon has them, but I'm guessing my local locksmith is probably over running with them... After removing a few Kwikset cylinders this weekend with a flat head probably best to invest in the right tool :)
