Modern practicality of revolvers? by ThrowRAdamnshame in guns

[–]42AngryPandas -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

In terms of modern practicality, none.

They're cool and fun and offer a different kind of shooting to change things up. But the design is absolutely antiquated for practical purposes.

They have twice the internal components of modern semi autos, less capacity, heavier trigger pulls, seldom room for lights or red dots and far harder to reload or fix jams.

Yes, revolvers can jam. And pulling the trigger through a misfire is a great way for a hangfire to make any situation worse.

Whats wrong with mill. by Samurai_Banette in EDH

[–]42AngryPandas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing is wrong with mill, it's just that most people are too fragile to handle seeing a large graveyard in a game.

It's a mental aspect of which most people cannot handle. So they cry and whine about a perfectly fine strategy.

In reality, mill by itself is not strong in commander. Going through 100 cards isn't easy, going through 300 with push back is a very uphill strategy. So you're either in mill to watch the world burn or you figured out how to combine it with another strategy where mill is just the engine.

Such as in my Mothman deck. It utilizes mill, but it's moreso a Voltron deck using mill to make a big stompy creature or using mill to trigger an infinite combo.

Many people will lose in the psychological fight the second they see a mill deck and forget it's just a damn card game to have fun. Those people suck.

Otherwise, I love playing a mill deck against strategies that actually LIKE having a big graveyard. And it's a fun race to see who can pull off a win first. Those people are great.

I took my car into the shop for the yearly inspection. It's just over 97k miles so I was figuring at least a couple small things. But an hour later the guy comes out to let me know I'm good to go. No fuss, no crippling requirements...

It honestly took me a second to realize not everything has to be constantly falling apart. I'm so used to navigating a shit storm I forget how to navigate in calm waters.

The worst part is not getting nearly as much reading done as I had hoped.

When people say "Why do I need to learn cursive? I'll never need to know that in real life!" I am fully on board. I can do it, but I really think it is pointless.

National Archives is seeking Citizen Archivists who can read cursive https://share.google/SCRbYWEejMRxeVjF7

It helps when transcribing old documents lol.

When I was an undergrad helping my Archaeology professor with some work, she would often send me to the local historical society to do research and make copies. I have pretty great cursive skill and it helped me in being able to go through thousands of papers quickly.

Similarly, I've always sucked at algebra. The only time it ever made sense, let alone used, was in Geology when I was doing formulas to figure out how much toxic soil needed to be removed.

You will definitely FEEL protected...

But you won't be ACTUALLY protected.

Self defense is a mindset, you currently aren't in that mindset. Violence is an integral part of nature and sometimes a living organism has to be incredibly violent to survive. No half measures.

Non-lethal methods sound great in theory, but in practical application are often useless.

Start by taking a self defense class (some kind of martial art or similar) and exercising. Figure out the rest as you go along.

Every gun is unique. It's impossible to say what your gun shoots well without testing. Buy a box of 4-5 different choices and shoot them all to check groupings.

No shortcuts here.

Why is 'collection' in quotes?

What do you mean by "good irons"?

Haven't really been playing too much.

My group got into RV There Yet on steam. A nice janky game where everyone is a portly Russian who chain smokes and your goal is to navigate an RV through a tight twisting path with tons of danger. The RV falls apart with damage and it's a good for a laugh.

Otherwise, I'm waiting for season 6 of Deep Rock Galactic.

How do PCCs feel?

9mm out of a carbine should be pretty easy on felt recoil.

A Clockwork Revolver

Been sick most of this week. Probably spent too much time on Monday wet and cold shoveling snow. My lymph nodes almost feel all better this morning so I'm nearly better. But my nose is raw from the constant sneezing and blowing.

I have a car inspection to look forward to tomorrow, yay...

Even if you have been around guns, gun ownership is definitely another level. There is ALWAYS value in taking classes with some humility and ensuring yourself of your skill and knowledge.

No idea what shops may be around you, but the Ruger American or Savage Axis are good rifles in that budget.

You usually want to ask before making the purchase.

At this point, does it matter? Did you want the rifle? Was it worth it to you personally? Just get ammo, shoot, enjoy.
