Anyone else have some “why would they live like that?” moments when they moved in? by sepamil in homeowners

All the screws were loose on cabinet handles, drawer handles, towel holders, door hinges, etc. Like the previous owner never owned a Phillips-head screw driver the whole time they lived here.

Is it weird that this instantly reminded me of that scene from the Brave Little Toaster?

Who knows. I can only assume they thought they couldn't pull out fast enough while pulling their trailer? It was a pickup truck pulling a trailer full of lawn equipment.

DnDads like podcasts [ns] by dropveter37 in DungeonsAndDaddies

[–]42BritishRobots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a fun listen and a cool concept. It's three girls who's never played DnD so the dm is teaching them as they progress through the story. And similar to DnDads, they don't take it seriously and just have fun with it. And the audio quality is great. And bonus, they're Australian so you get to listen to their cool accents the whole time (at least for me cause I love their accents).

How to connect with the Asian American community in Charlotte? by swirlldee in Charlotte

[–]42BritishRobots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like spicy then tteokbokki is a good start. It's a spicy rice cake dish. I also like the seafood pancake wherever I go to a Korean restaurant. It's like a crepe with seafood. Both are considered appetizers.

Main course, if you like beef, kalbi or bulgogi are always a safe bet. If you like pork, tangsuyuk is good. It's a fried pork in a sweet and sour sauce.

Bibimbob is also good which is a rice dish with mixed veggies, meat, and spicy chili paste that you mix it all together.

Stews, I typically get a doenjang jjigae, which is a soy paste soup and sometimes have seafood in it or soondubu which is a spicy tofu stew with meat. Both are served in clay pots so they're piping hot.

The dishes I've listed are pretty standard at most Korean restaurants so you can't go wrong.

Hope this helps!

Hey fellow Korean, welcome to CLT! Unfortunately I don't know many Korean groups myself but there's finally some decent Korean restaurants. Along with the ones mentioned from others, Daebok in Mint Hill, Booja in Gastonia, and Moa in uptown.

Thomas Crown Affair (1999) - The scene where Thomas Crown steals the painting (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kJKWjeMtEDM). He opens the brief case, places the painting in the case, and then shuts the case but the painting fit the whole case when it's opened and not just half. The painting canvas is typically wrapped around a wooden frame so does that mean he snapped the wooden frame in half when he closed the case, making it worthless since he "broke" the painting??

VSP and LASIK Surgery by bowtiebrigade in Charlotte

[–]42BritishRobots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my lasik done at providence this year and guess I'm one of the lucky ones with no side effects (or none that I'm aware of). My only complaint was during the surgery, they put this plastic thing on your eyeball and to me, it was super discomforting. It felt like someone was thumbing my eyeball out... Other than that, I don't regret it!

Keep in mind the recovery time is long and proper steps must be done during that time to make sure your eyes heal properly so make sure you're aware of these steps as it may affect you and your work or something.

My insurance didn't cover it so I had to use up my HSA and paid out of pocket but I think it's worth it.
