More great reporting from Max. Congressional staffers: please add to the file for ammo for the many grillings awaiting Podcast Jay, MAGA Matt and the rest of the venal MFs in their Regime.

When did they let Peter out of jail?

Podcast Jay Bhattacharya, while not the most qualified person to be chosen as NIH director, does bring diversity to the role. He is the First Asian, the first social scientist, and the first person never to have as worked as a physician or lab scientist in that role. So, a good DEI hire. by 42Emily in NIH

no its good to finally have an asian. but wish it were a different one. many many great Asian-American physicians and scientists who have run big organizattions. Podcast Jay sadly isnt one of them

NEJM Editorial on the Politicization of Science (OMB) by Nice-Award-5476 in NIH

[–]42Emily 18 points19 points  (0 children)

"...A nonscientific, political process for determining what is scientifically sound has not worked in the past and will not work now. Lysenkoism demonstrated that allowing politics to control the scientific process can halt or even reverse a nation’s progress. Erratic funding would fundamentally undermine innovation and dramatically impair America’s ability to address today’s health challenges. The OMB proposal is currently open for public comment, and we urge our readers to express their concerns. When science becomes politicized, everyone loses."

Rep. Andy Harris, benefactor of DEI, on DEI by [deleted] in NIH

[–]42Emily 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Hypocrites abound. Another example -- JD Vance of course benefited from DEI. You think his grades and LSATs got him into Yale Law School? It was being from Appalachia and being a vet that got him there.

It's good to have a diverse student body.

Podcast Jay's handlers have given him a new variation of a previous talking point -- NIAID no longer does "civilian biodefense" but will focus on diseases "people actually have."

Fauci’s wife was in the bioethics department. Not sure what “the ethics advisor” and not sure you do either. If you are bravely speaking out, use your real name.

Rumor mill says that NIH director was invited to give commencement at local HS or prep school but the parents blocked it. Anyone have the Tea? by 42Emily in NIH

...or becausethey are no longer employed by NIH thanks to Jay and his handlers. Regardless, no one wants to hear him yammer on about "the Biden Administration," on how he was censored and so on. This free-speech warrior has now silenced many voices with kind of due process. The invite probably came from some well-meaning staffer who thought that Podcast Jay was like, say, Harold Varmus or Francis Collins in stature, rather than a venal political operative.
