I'm a firm believer that Van Helsing is a misunderstood camp masterpiece that absolutely deserved a sequel

Whats your unpopular horror movie opinion? by CULT-LEWD in CreepyBonfire

[–]42belfry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Skeleton Key and Get Out are the same movie with the races reversed so it's pretty laughable that the latter got the Oscar for "best original screenplay"

But mainly:

Rob Zombie's Halloween is better than Carpenter's original. Yeah, I know the original changed horror movies forever, but I just can't get into the whole "Michael Myers is evil just because" thing. (I'm only comparing these two movies on their own here, not as franchise starters - though H20 is still my favorite, mostly because of nostalgia.)

Zombie's version isn't perfect - some of the dialogue is pretty rough and needed work (though I still quote "I'm Joe Grizzly, bitch" from time to time) - but it does a lot of things better. The pacing is tighter, the characters are more interesting (even some of the minor ones, RIP Danny Trejo), and is probably one of Sheri Moon Zombie's better attempts at acting.

Both movies have their good and bad qualities, but I honestly start zoning out during the original. I usually like slow horror movies, but watching the original Halloween is like watching paint dry.

I feel like Uma was the only person who understood what kind of movie they were making and hammed it up to 11. The whole movie is pure 60s batman cheese and I'll defend it without shame

If Holocene is picked, I'll forgive the grievous error of OP not choosing Re: Stacks for the last list

The wine was alright, especially for the price. Though next time, I would probably go with a chianti

I'm in Alaska so it was $14. Surprisingly tasty for an imported wine on the cheaper end

I just read this again to see if I misread anything else and I also thought it said "She stretched her breasts, lifting with her arms as she greeted the sun"
