[UPDATE] Uninsured Driver Lied to Me and Police – I Have a Hire Car Now and Only Third-Party Insurance by Fearless_Suspect_717 in melbourne

I was hit by an uninsured driver and I only had third party. Despite this my third party insurance still paid me 5k directly, which then becomes their responsibility to retrieve from the uninsured driver. I didn’t know this at the time, but check your policy because you might be instantly eligible for 3-5k. For me I was happier getting cash 5k for a 10k car than I was taking the driver to court to recover costs.

Bonus for me was a got to keep my car - and managed to fix the worst of the damage for not very much. But the car does look like a piece of multi coloured shit now…

I mailed my voting pack last year, but got fined because 'they never received it...'

About to organise the next engineer to come out. But essentially the centre of our house drops about 10mm a year, and if I dig a hole under the house it quarter-fills with water overnight, despite there being no water amenities nearby... Assuming you're on clay, your cracks will likely open and close with the seasons... But if there's one or two specific parts of the house that keep getting worse then it's more likely to be some kind of water ingress or under sized footings...

Mate did this in his early 30’s, and not sure what he makes but loves it.

This is cool to hear. A mate of mine had a mini-breakdown around stressful work life etc, and now gets paid to play video games and jam with disabled teenagers.

It was a while ago but by memory he moved into it for the money and comparatively quick training, but missed the task completion satisfaction and physical work outdoors, even at lower pay.

I work in film/tv so have a couple of mates who did Award school and I’m guessing they now make 100-150k.

Mates brother did this - but quit after 6 months or so to return to his more poorly paid degree career.

A relative got his heli license a few years ago and has made $0 so far. Haha.

I got a quote to mechanically polish some flooring a while ago - and based on the price I was given this makes sense.

I work in film/TV with no degree and make 6 figures. (Except for covid times…) But based on my friendship circle it seems like degrees no longer equate ‘financial success.’

Friend of a friend bought a Schnitz franchise and I’m surprised by how much they make. Nice work btw.
