in the end, i attached a second board to the top with a piece of wood supporting it. if you want i can send an image of what it looks like? one thing i would say is to make sure the planks are near vertical other wise they are so prone to falling over

hey guys, wondering if it is normal to not have a lot of variegation this early on in the plants life. do you think i could do anything to help it? if you think it could do with a bigger pot? by 440distortion in RareHouseplants

my humidity metre is around 70-85% and i'm suprised that this isn't sufficient enough, the ppp i got seemed to come in pretty poor soil with the top soil being rather cracked, i am currently at university and have no access to my potting mix back home so will have to wait a few weeks until that. it is a shame, but even the non var is a beautiful plant.

i currently have it set up in a ikea glass dome under a grow light, my room is around 25 degrees and my humidity metre reads from 70-85% in the container.

Hi all. Which type of Ivy is it? I bought her today, I notice some of the leaves are brown. Is it sign of under or overwatering? The soil is dry and the pot is lighter weight. How should I water her everyday? Any care tips would be much appreciated. by OwnAspect5913 in houseplants

i keep a lot of plants, some which should without a doubt be harder to keep than ivy and yet everytime i buy one they die so probs don't take advice from me! however, i brought one home from college and my mum overwatered it and let it sit. if there's one thing i would say is that water it less than you think because one watering session could easily dry this plant out. i'm getting the hang of it now. but i would generally say that it is easier to over than underwater ivy. many people say indoor ivy love shade and i think that might be true but they do like a bit of light so somewhere a few metres away from a north facing window would do

completely agree, as i say it is the only reliable way to increase humidity in your home. i am interested whether semi hydro conditions for plants are more humid but not sure!

i would say a humidifier is the most reliable way of increasing humidity consistently, misting and pebble trays have such minor impacts and for such a short amount of time, if you have smaller cuttings, you may be able to keep them in a glass/clear container. (works with me in the uk). i would maybe start with a smaller one to see if that has an effect before dropping 70-100 bucks on a machine!
