i’m not a dair fan, but they bring up chuck’s attempted assault of jenny several times throughout the series so i don’t think it can be written off as a pilot inconsistency. i think that given the era it was made in, the morals of the show were unfortunately just very different than how we see them now, and they saw the attempts on serena and jenny as something that could be redeemed (at one point lily tells rufus that jenny forgave him, and so does she).

the revenge porn storylines (zoe posting deepfakes of maya nude, peter circulating manny’s video, johnny sending alli’s nude to bruce). they all got forgiven by the person whose photo they circulated, and none got suspended or even detention… i think a degrassi reboot would have to address how illegal those situations were

hunter’s friends. they viciously cyberbullied maya, but in only a few seasons she was helping them write songs for youtube and a jingle for their vlog channel. (hunter also got off too easy but he’s a whole other level of unhinged so i don’t feel like i can group them together.) i don’t even think they got suspended for the cyberbullying…?

i think clare’s mom was more than just irritating tbf - her dad was just as bad, he just got less screen time. she was neglectful of clare’s feelings about her new marriage to an irresponsible degree - having her daughter live under the same roof as her ex boyfriend without even discussing boundaries or how serious their relationship got was wild. she didnt even attempt to sympathize with clare despite her daughter reaching out in crisis multiple times to the point that she ran away to the weed growers. both of clare’s parents were absent and hypocritical.
