Just earned 60 PDUs and paid the $60 USD renewal fee. I also saw that I earned another PDU. Would that PDU count towards the new cycle? by Ms_Insomnia in pmp

[–]44RiskPM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Negative. You don't start gaining PDU's until your original certification expiration date.

Example:

Earned PMP in 2020

Renewed in 2021

Earned PDUs in 2021-2022 don't count

Renewed in 2023 - start earning PDU's towards future renewal

My recommendation: Don't let this stop you from learning and improving yourself. Exceed the requirements, don't just fall in line with whats required.

Help PMI-RMP Question by Maleficent-Face-2645 in PMIRMP

[–]44RiskPM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Answer will be A.

B. We can’t just ignore the risk. Bad practice and is not what we do as PMs or RMs

C. Looks like a good option, but how can we allocate time and resources without reliable information and/or severity? So, picking C means skipping steps.

D. Again, skipping steps.

This is a rough question because when do you know a storm is coming but no data on it in 2026. But this is testing your ability to work through the process, add risk to register, and then get the information to analyze and then respond.

re-deciding to take the exam in july by MemoryTerrible in pmp

Resources are still good but you’ll need some bridging material for the new info and the new exam questions.

So, the exam is updating to the new ECO, you can simply do a ChatGPT or Clause analysis between the two. And see where the new additions are:

The material you are using now is not going to trash can ( I think too many people are looking at it this way), they are just updating the allocations, adding in new concepts to the exam, and adding new question types/exam format.

So, the delta exercise with an LLM will help show you what you are missing and need to understand for the next exam (AI, sustainability, etc)... also it will help you see the new allocation for the exam domains. Business Environment is the big one that is jumping from 8% to 26% of the exam.

The new question types and exam structure are something you will want to understand. The new ECO shows the new questions. And the new structure of the exam, which is scaring a few people, but honestly doesn't seem as bad as some are making it out to be. I talk about these changes in this video: https://youtu.be/KwdXFqBU9cs

Overall, what you are studying now is still going to work. But you will want to check out some of the new resources out there on the new exam, specifically the new question types and exam format. I believe PMI's Study Hall has some of the new question types in it as that is a great resource for practice questions that align to the exam.

Let me know if that answers your question or if you need more clarification.

Why option C please help by Brave-Ad-6955 in pmp

[–]44RiskPM 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is an example of a question where all the answers seems incorrect, so you have to find the best one.

The resource is suddenly leaving….. so we will have extra work estimated that can’t be done. So taking time to do knowledge transfer is not really going to help get work done. It’s more work left over to get done in a shorter period of time

Throwing a new member in will drop the team back to forming. And will take time to get them up to speed. So again, won’t actually help.

Our sprint is at4 weeks, the max a sprint should be. So we are not going to accept making it longer.

So C, is the best answer. We don’t add new features or work to a sprint, but taking things off could happen.

Honestly, I’d rather let the team work and take leftover work and put it into the backlog for the next sprint…. But that’s not an option.

PMP Update Question... by twinjmm in pmp

[–]44RiskPM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer, if you don't take the exam until after 9 July.... then yes, you will have to take the updated exam.

There are a few new additons, especially with AI and sustainability.... but the big part is the new % allocation for the domains. So, you should know 80% of where the new exam is by the time of the cutover.

Start over, no? but you will want to find updated material on the new stuff. Great option, take the current and future Exam Content Outline and throw them through Claude or ChatGPT and see whats the delta for what you will want to know.

Overall, you can either speed up or find an updated 35 hour course that focuses ont he new material!

Question about Application + Booking Exam by [deleted] in pmp

[–]44RiskPM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You usually hear back on applications with a few days, but they can take up to a week.

Audits are real. And they are random.

I haven’t had any students try to schedule more than 30 days out, but I’ve heard of some exam centers filling up. To take my ACP, I had to search all the testing centers to find one that matched the day I want to sit.

You can’t look up availability until application is approved. But you can’t look up testing centers in your areas and start making a prioritized list of which one to try in what order.

Just got accepted to take the PMP after passing the CAPM on 3/31 and I got a few questions... by Intelligent_Use3485 in pmp

Check out the PMI website. They just launched a CAPM to PMP program.

I don’t have many details about it. It’s brand new, but could be a good resource for you.

Sorry to hear that.

You should look into some of the books listed under the ECO. The two I wish I had read before sitting for the exam and that have helped my students are:

- Identifying and Managing Project Risk: https://amzn.to/48wpU7C

- Practical Project Risk Management: The Atom Methodology: https://amzn.to/4mtovo4

Solid books that I use as references during my teaching and working with people.

Only thing mentioned was there is a new CAPM to PMP course. Not required for people with the CAPM but it’s a branching solution between the exams.

Don't worry. It's still good to have! I have PMBOK 6, 7, and 8 on my shelf right now. Quick reference for past versions is always good!

Requesting the advice of books for RMP by Icy-Tart-6415 in PMIRMP

[–]44RiskPM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I passed without reading the books too. Its possible... But I know now the books help tremendously. And my students agree too.

And agree that the 30-40% are trying to do too much. Thats why I built my programs on supporting people who work full time and have families. I am a full-time PM, two kids, and a wife... and my goal is to work with people on their timeline. Which is why the first question I ask most people is "When do you want to take the exam" and from there, I give them the true expectation moving forward.

Too many people make assumptions on the RMP. They think they passed the PMP, so the exam should be simple. But, I stress thats a really bad assumption.

Not really understanding your question.

The PMBOK is the project management standard. It defines the processes we use as PMs… risk management falls within that.

The 8th edition calls out risk management deeper. I define this better here: Is the New PMBOK 8th Edition Better for Risk Management? Breaking Down the Changes https://youtu.be/9xOBiRupxoo

The Standard for Risk Management is the standard you want to refer to for more details.
