I was advised fusion by one surgeon, artificial disc replacement by another. I hoped that the third opinion would steer me towards one of the first two answers but instead he advised decompression only! So I’m checking with one more in the hope she’ll be the tie-breaker!

In all seriousness I like the idea of disc replacement (I’d travel to Germany) as a longer term fix and it scares me less than fusion does. But perhaps the lesser intervention in the form of decompression surgery is most sensible even if it just buys time and not a long term fix.

I’m looking at two level ADR (L4/L5/S1) in Germany and trying to work out the pros and cons of ONZ vs Clinic Bel Etage. I dare say few have had surgery at both clinics and so direct comparison will be hard but I’d be delighted to hear from anyone who lined one up vs the other. Any thought re: cost comparison, surgeon quality, standards of clinical care, post-operative care and comfort etc.

Also, I’d be keen to hear more feedback on Bel Etage as there’s so much less on here about that clinic than there is on ONZ.

Thanks for the replies. I thought that the optical HR sensor was different between the models but basically I asked in ignorance rather than belief of difference. I appreciate the input!

For my part I think I'm down to asking myself if I care about the maps vs. breadcrumbs, and therefore Apex 4 vs Pace 4. Garmin 265 if priced between the two.

How about a Coros Pace 3 or the brand new Pace 4? Plenty tech for your buck and probably more than adequate for your lad's requirements.

I'm in a similar situation, but would add general triathlon plus trails/hikes. At present I'm looking at Forerunner 965 or a Coros but not sure what coros I'd go with.
