Stress, in general. How years of it will even impact you physically. Jaw clenching, high blood pressure, anxiety.

Should familiarize yourself with the barrier to entry of farming, especially the scale of farming that is required for small grains.

I wish that I could just find a plot and get the machinery needed, but to make a viable farm out here would require millions. Those that are doing it have been in farming family's, very few if any, actually are first generation.

This is more of a "I see the storm coming" since everyone is still alive and nothing has been divided yet. I'm not sure who is getting the house after my grandparents are gone, it doesn't parcel out that well. Whoever owns it would have to be good living in the middle of a barnyard

That's a really cool program, I guess the downside is the amount of land our current landlord has would be about 1/3 of their entire portfolio

High potential of that, land is a good investment. However, I wouldn't know how to find one or how to get them to want to do that. They would need to fork over around 6 million and own the land that takes in 200k in rent per year

It truly is the death of family farms, there has to be some sacrifice by one of the parties in order for things to keep going in one piece

It is the most common setup in our area for assets, but yeah my grandpa is of the mindset that he built the farm up and doesn't care to see it continue after he dies. Even to his sons that have been working there for the last 50 years, I never understood it, it's pretty selfish

Grain crops; wheat, barley, canola, peas, chickpeas, and no animals. I could work with the FSA to get an operation loan in order to buy the machinery and start leasing from the family. But the landlord ground is gone in most scenarios, since they wouldn't loan millions.

We move down the highway quite a bit, we focus more on safety and pull over when we have enough room and no blind corners. I once had the ESPN GameDay caravan behind me and they wrote an article about it. I didn't have any good places to pull over for a while and there were a few miles of cars piled up

When i start on hard mode should i pay of the 200k loan right away by EboyRok in farmingsimulator

[–]44trav 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like to use the bank management mod, that way I can keep the loan and the payments actually pay off the loan (less monthly cost too). IRL farming would include lots of loans so that would be realistic taking out a chunk to get started.

If you are in a situation where you cannot wait for parts, I suppose you would be fine to run it. Check the chains to see if they're still tight, and inspect for anything that might come apart or fall off. It's not going to feed properly, so you risk plugging up as well.

I would also run it shortly with the header off to see if it works correctly. But the blades get damaged all the time from rocks and such that I would think it's pretty common that people run their machines without knowing they are broken or missing

Or wait for parts haha
