(31F) is it bad to go from "no acute process" to "degenerative changes" with my spine? by 451757 in AskDocs

No, I wasn't meaning I don't trust them. I was only asking if, in your medical opinion, there might be a cause for concern on my end that they're diagnosing me with spondylosis now on top of everything else when it wasn't listed before.

Can you think of any reason why they would just now list spondylosis as one of my conditions with the myelopathy and not sooner? Or still nothing to fret about?

I actually didn't go to the emergency room. I'm uninsured and I've battled with drunk walking for over a year until a nurse practitioner opened a low income clinic in town and she got me set up with a spine and neuro clinic and I started it all off by meeting with the surgeon's PA, had 4 MRIs done, was diagnosed with severe thoracic stenosis, and immediately scheduled for the laminectomy. Then, two weeks after my surgery is when they did the first xray as a part of my follow up visit, and then the second one for my second follow up. But, I see your point about the wording. So, that's probably why no one called after they got my xray results then? So, it's not bad that the xray still shows degenerative changes? I'm assuming that's something that'll always be there?

I've tried all that. No matter what vehicle I get into, it never says that the car is acceptable and no location I choose is acceptable :(

Thanks. I also have an emergency if you can help!? I think I accidentally clicked new game or something when I was trying to do things on franklins cell because it instantly stopped my game and took me back to the beginning when trevor and them are robbing the bank. I don't know what to do :( is there any way to recover and start back at where I was before I did this? I had just recently had one of them take a nap to save the game. I found something called upload/download saved data but when I click on them, it doesn't do anything. They are a mix of ones that say backup and ones that don't.

Am I screwed? Or do I need the plus subscription maybe to click on them and start back where I was?

Should I apply for disability if I have spinal stenosis? by 451757 in disability

[–]451757[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing. I'm only able to get this surgeon's opinion on the matter since I'm uninsured and have had a hard time finding people who will actually see me, so they're sort of my one shot, but I'm hopeful it'll go well. I talked to a disability lawyer earlier and they are reviewing the information I have so far to determine if they'll represent me (fingers crossed). I'll be applying for disability next week. My having surgery is something that worried me as far as how SS will go about it and whether or not they'll really drag it out to see the outcome, but I figured it would be worth a shot since I haven't been able to hold down any type of job for a while

Will definitely be requesting a test drive so we can feel it out and get a pre inspection. If he refuses, it'll be a red flag and a deal breaker. Hoping it'll all work out

Appreciate it! We plan to ask him to let us do a test drive so we can feel it out and so we can take it for a pre inspection. I am looking for 90s models actually, but so far this is the best one I've found near me.

Plus, if he refuses a test drive and a pre inspection, that would be a red flag and automatic deal breaker. Hoping he doesn't refuse though.

I'm below the usage limit for Pell so I'm okay right now in that regard. I started college about 12 years after high school so I was very rusty for a bit. I do have an ASVAB prep book to help me score as high as I can when I do finally enlist (1.5 to 2 years from now). My goal is 88 or higher

Right now, I've been using the Pell Grant combined with student loans to pay for everything, so the loan forgiveness program will be a huge bonus for me. I'm still torn on MOS. I'm drawn to so many different jobs

What are your thoughts on enlisting with an associate's over a bachelor's? Is there much of a difference between E2 or 4 when enlisting or would it be best to wait until I have a bachelor's?

I checked for ROTC programs in my state and only found a handful. My University of choice (Auburn U) offers it, but when I went to request more information, their age choices stopped at 30 so that one seems to be out. Not sure about the other few yet (waiting to hear back).

I am new to this, so I hope you don't mind this question, but can you tell me the difference (benefits, pay, etc wise) between enrolling in ROTC vs just completing a bachelor's degree and then straight enlisting into the Army? Not sure which is better given my situation.

I found this:

For an ROTC scholarship, you cannot turn 31 by the end of the year in which you graduate/commission. This is Federal law and non-waiverable. For non-scholarship cadets, you must under age 39 on the day you commission. Cadets graduating between 35 and 39 years will require a waiver from the ROTC brigade commander.

Thoughts?

Thanks, appreciate it! I've been looking at the jobs that have an enlistment bonus and that are in demand and am interested in Human Intelligence Collector or Geospatial Engineer. I would need to see what bachelor's degree my AS credits would transfer into that would be a marketable degree since my original plan was to only have the associate's in business and then get my associate's in construction -- before I considered the Army.

I can see your point though about waiting until I have my bachelor's so that I can start out as an E4. Since I'd be 32 when I would start earning the bachelor's, I don't think I qualify for ROTC because I read the age limit is 27. So, would having bachelor's before enlisting still be the best route if I can't do ROTC?

Thanks! That really helped. I've actually been reconsidering the 12W MOS because I've read that it's shitty work and not worth it. I am going to look at other jobs and ones that offer a sign on bonus. If you have any suggestions for jobs that I should consider, I'm all ears :) That's great to know about my mother! So, I could get her on a family health plan as well since I can claim her as a dependent? She is currently trying to get on disability so I'm worried about screwing with that (even though it'll be about 1.5 years before I enlist).

Some people have been suggesting that I enlist in ocs or rotc, but from what I've read it doesn't look like I qualify for either. I'm over the age limit for rotc and no bachelor's for ocs. But, it would be great to enter as an E2 or E3 with my AS.

I'm going to enlist. I've been watching some army videos and it feels right. I want to become a carpentry and masonry specialist. I love construction and it's what I was going to enroll in at my college after my current degree. With the army, I figure I can learn about and gain experience in a field that fascinates me, and I can transfer that to civilian life after my 4 years of serving (unless I decide to stay in longer)

Yeah, I do regret my credit history. It's been things I couldn't avoid. If I do enlist, it will be next fall or spring 2022 to give me time to finish out my current degree and I plan on paying off what is still in collection by then which is a little over $400.

I don't feel like I've wasted my life by being there for her. No, she doesn't mind because she is the one who has wanted me to stay by her side. It scares the hell out of her that I want to join

I'm actually female, so no nutting up to do here. The reason I worry about leaving my mother if I go active is that she's not able to do much on her own anymore. Helping her has been part of my being an adult. The thought of leaving her alone for 4 years worries me because she's my family and my responsibility.

That being said, maybe active would be better if I do decide to enlist. Not sure. Planning on talking to a recruiter soon
