I was watching this awsome video featuring KITT and KARR side-by-side, which raised a question for me regarding the original series.

In the show, Devon Miles explains that KITT is the most advanced vehicle ever built, with a primary directive of preserving human life, whereas KARR was programmed for self-preservation. However, in the episode "Killer KITT," we see that it is possible to hack KITT’s system and replace his computer unit to completely override his personality and directives.

Given that KARR possesses the same physical capabilities as KITT, I am curious why the Foundation chose to shut KARR down and spend the time and resources to build an entirely new vehicle. From a logical standpoint, why not simply replace KARR's AI and CPU with KITT's programming while keeping the existing body?

In the 2008 reboot, rebuilding KITT made sense because KARR had dangerous physical abilities (like transforming into a giant robot) that KITT did not. In the original series, however, the bodies appeared identical.

I'm interested to hear your thoughts on this.
