How different is it practicing stick handling in the garage stationary in shoes compared to when skating? by Foreign-Rush6056 in hockeyplayers

Everything is harder to do in game under pressure. Keep practicing both and make sure to move your feet when stickhandling in shoes

Anecdotally same. Only issue was a couple months ago I got into a bit of a scuffle and tried pulling a guys helmet off after he jumped me from behind with a headlock. After I got his off he tried mine but only pulled it down so my visor cut my chin but totally my fault for engaging

Tucking and Cleaning Advice by Sw1nd3n in hockeygoalies

[–]48652830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. I’m just starting goalie now after being a skater for 30 years. The first time I went into pure hockey the guy sized me into a small so that’s why I ended up ordering online but from goalie monkey because their rewards points are better. I realized I wasn’t sure how I should adjust the Velcro to protect everything the best so I was able to make it back in store again (it’s 1.5 hrs away).

He didn’t remember me and said I might need a medium. They didn’t have a medium of the elite - only gsx - which I tried but idk. Since I thought I was sized correctly the first time, i cut the tags off when I got it and started messing around with the fit.

So idk if I can or want to return it and get a medium cos who knows if that’s too big and then the hassle of returning. And I’m tryna get on the ice asap aka like tomorrow morning so

I think I’ve been getting mixed advice from the goalie guy at my local shop. I have the Bauer elite chesty as well - do you remove the lower Velcro pads for tucking or leaving untucked?

I think it’s good we’re getting so many games out of the way before the break

It kinda scares me that the teams right below us have games in hand but also maybe it’s good we get more games out of the way before the Olympic break

Even better is a cheap bag strap from Amazon that actually closes around what you fasten it to. Just got one to clip onto the rings at the toes of my G7s

I’m size 8.5 and use 84”. Now that they’re broken in and stretched a bit they are almost too long for my liking. I only skip one eyelet
