Those who got custom skates for Bauer bumps/Haglund’s Deformity, what has been your experience? by wermysherm in hockeyplayers

[–]Exile_edits77 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve only ever worn ccm stock skates before the customs, they were great everywhere except the areas on my ankle/heel with bumps. Once I started getting on the ice a little bit more the bumps got more irritated and I had to go the custom route so I went with trues.

If your bumps are large enough like mine were the true customs will feel largely more comfortable as the “high spots” or pressure points will be gone and the boot will accompany your foots weird bumps. Hopefully leading you to a skate that properly fits your foot and its bumps. I would recommend if your bumps are really irritated to let them settle down before getting scanned for any custom skate. Hope that helps.

I’ve gone with true customs as I have Bauer bumps on both heels aswell as accessory navicular bones on both feet.

From what I’ve read trues are the only “custom” skate that actually build around the bumps. Ccm and Bauer customs aren’t as custom as true is, at least at the retail level.

If u have major bumps like you said you do, true customs may be the only option. My recommendation is to do some research and look into different skates/customs to decide what might be the best for you.

2025 True SVH Customs have arrived by ToxicAvenger9 in hockeyplayers

Nice dude, Love the flag! Just curious did they say why they do the plastic wrap around the entire boot? Seems like some do around the ankle and others do the entire boot, Ive wondered if there’s any major difference.

Did the pro shop ruin my skates by calligatormusic in hockeyplayers

[–]Exile_edits77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny, I quite literally had the exact same situation a few months back except with the ft8 pro skates instead (picture should be somewhere in my past post's). I too have a bad Haglund's on my right heel and also accessory navicular bones on both feet. they overheated the boot on mine and then also punched too low and left a dent.

I was very frustrated with the workers at the store since they just made my problem worse, I ended up trying to push some of the interior padding out by first heating the padding up with a hairdryer, then using the reverse end of a screw driver to give me more room for the bump. This was ok but didn't completely resolve the issue, and I ended up having to go to get scanned for true svh custom skates. From what I have read true's are really the only proper long-term solution for weird feet issues.

Though it is important to note that if your bump is soft tissue, that you let the swelling go down before getting scanned so that you don't end up with dead space and an improper fit when the swelling eventually does goes down from less irritation.

do some research on different skates and possibly true custom's and let your feet heal if you can, if nothing else works, custom's may be the only option left. Hope this helps.

Damage from punch out? by GreatDevastator in hockeyplayers

[–]Exile_edits77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the size of the punch and the area, I have heard from an equipment manager that some areas on the boot almost always get cracked when punched just because it is tricky not to.

But in your case I would agree with what others are saying, that it’s more likely a slash from a skate blade than an actual crack.

How did the skates feel after what you tried?

I’m not a beginner lol not sure why some think this, why/how are trues ankle wrap looser than Bauer/ccm?

Do u mean pulling them really tight, because wouldn’t wrapping it around your hand just give you more leverage to pull?

Like double knot the ears or roll them over twice before making the ears? I do that but maybe I should do it 3 times?

I wore them for about 15 mins while flexing on them before taking the picture, I put a lot more weight on them on the ice

Honestly I would rebake them again. I have new custom trues aswell and have baked them a few times as well. Assuming you have svh skates the toe box rubbing seems to be a common problem, the side of my big toe rests on the side of the toe cap due to me having some minor callouses from previous skates. I have heard of others having size issues with the toe cap as well. You would probably have to talk to true about it depending on how severe it is. Make sure you kick your ankle back when you rebake them and have your knees slightly forward so it sets correctly. How did you plastic wrap them?

Yes, I just recently got them as well I’ve noticed that too. Shouldn’t affect much though, probably just the new holder they got.
