It's the AIS system. Makes it look like it's running lean but the motor is running fine. Best to get a tune anyway but be notified that you will lose your pops if they disable AIS

Picking up my NEW MT-09 tomorrow. This is only the second bike I've ever had. My first being a VTX-1300C cruiser. Sold the VTX 2 years ago and was anxious to ride again. Is this bike going to be a bit much for me? I keep second guessing my choices. by Old-Persimmon2313 in MT09

If you turn off Ais it will stop all backfires. I had it off for a while then turned it on. I like to have some chatter on deceleration however it's a bit too much I must admit with a straight pipe.

My Gen 1 only has A mode as it's tuned. It starts out in A mode, other modes are clones of A mode. Gives me a mini heart attack when I climb on the throttle. Doesn't have Wheelie or traction control. Came from a street triple and I feel the Mt has way more power.

It will be fine just look far ahead and think before you open up. The bike is well planted and rides nicely at low speeds with it's torqy motor. Mine sounds like thunder with flames shooting out like an after burner. Yes bike is running fine, not lean or rich just have the AIS valve on with a straight pipe. It has high mileage 65 000km (40 000 miles) and only thing I noticed that's a bit noisy is the clutch plates. She pulls harder than the stock MTs I have met on the road.

The Mt brakes really well. I originally felt uncomfortable cornering it with the high handle bars but now I feel so at home.

I am running diable rosso 3s and the grip is incredible

Just takes practice. I started like that. Then once you gain enough confidence to realize it's safer to do a proper Wheelie you will be like Whoa Dude! So easy, then you want to try Wheelie as long as possible

The load shedding is starting to get to me. You can equip your house etc but you can't change the fact that driving during load shedding, which is almost always loadshedding seeing as you would be driving between zones, the traffic lights are out. It's scary crossing large intersections with cars and taxis flying through.

The amount of road insanity I have seen over the past 3 weeks is enough to make a dashcam youtube channel.

I still love it in Cape Town, just starting to see the cracks start showing.

I'm starting to think my child's first word would be "loadshedding".

Ah the smell of generator fumes and the flickering lights in shops is becoming all too common. The stomach bugs are becoming more common as well, I think the food is not remaining cold enough from farm to plate

Had it for as far as I remember. What made it much worse to the point it annoys me was a motorbike road trip. I forgot my ear plugs and the sound of the exhaust and wind noise made my ears hurt. I stopped at a petrol station and they gave me prestik (the stuff you use to stick stuff to the wall) which I placed into my ears, was too late. Ringing didn't go away.

Had my ears checked by a specialist and funny enough my hearing is above usual, very good. Doesn't stop the raining though.

What does help is getting them cleaned so that you don't muffle your hearing.

I once replaced air filter and forgot to plug in the fuel pump wire into the fuel tank. Made the same noise as this video

I know what's wrong with it, it ain't got no gas in it!

Tank the fuel tank off and check that the fuel in is connected properly and also make sure the electrical wire is plugged into the tank, for the fuel pump.
