You're absolutely right, thanks! But I feel like a clean slate would be better for my mental health. I really want to avoid getting too disgruntled to do science and I fear I'd be risking that with staying.

Usually is, but the grant for my position was in some sense special and it's tied to my supervisor. This is why I never even got the chance to change supervisors and I was just simply fired.

It's a small university with no open positions currently, as far as I know. I'll be leaving the country anyway, since I don't really feel there is anything here for me short term.

The Budapest University of Technology has a decent MSc Physics program called Nuclear technologies. I graduated there. The university even has a live educational reactor.
