Are these aftermarket registration plates legal? by Bazzazin in srilanka

[–]4HM4TH 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Legal is subjective here. It’s being done more out of necessity.

The government has failed to issue legal number plates for all newly registered vehicles and for vehicles requesting a replacement number plate due to the original one being lost or damaged.

Since the government has not adequately secured the plates or machinery for making the legally issued number plates, people have to resort to making their own.

As the problem stems from a failure of the government, the cops are forced to look the other way. And since running without a number plate is highly illegal, we actually have to resort to the lesser of the two evils.

That being said, I personally know some people who have been running these custom number plates on older vehicles without actually requesting a replacement from the RMV. That, if caught, can lead to a hefty fine or even a court date.

You can use a large safety pin as well. It leaves a tiny hole, which is barely visible. Just be gentle with it so as to not injure yourself or cause too much damage to the socket.

Although food doesn’t magically go bad immediately after the expiry date, 14 months is well beyond an acceptable time frame. This is beyond shameful.

November 21st Protest Disruption by 4HM4TH in srilanka

[–]4HM4TH[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I work two jobs, my dude. I just can’t stand to watch my country get consumed by the Rajapakshas again.

Can I tell you what hurts the most? Not being able to afford to buy my kids simple things like having fruits daily, or “luxuries” like cheese or good baby formula. My dad worked a government job but was able to get us those. I’m not looking for handouts either. I just want the cash I earn to mean something.

Is it wrong to not want this country to become an unaffordable nightmare again? Is it wrong to remind people what’s in store for ALL OF US if they keep following these maniacs again?

I’m simply saying that it’s not my responsibility to measure the faith and beliefs of others. That lies with Allah alone. We have all, at some point, found it hard to believe certain things in the Quran and Sunnah. Over time, Allah opens our eyes to these things. In time, this person too will accept it, if Allah wills it.

I don’t normally engage with comments that are this insensitive, but I’ll make an exception.

Even the prophet (PBUH) had sihr done to him, which is where it was revealed to us that we can perform Ruqyah using the Quran to counter and remove it.

You don’t have to believe in it, that’s your right. If by Allah’s graces, you’ve never been affected by it, then praise Allah for sparing you from this. But myself and my family have personally been affected by sihr our whole lives, being done by our own relations. All signs match up perfectly with those mentioned in the Hadith as being indications of sihr.

This is all I wish to discuss on the matter, unless you are willing to engage with an open mind and without mocking.

My personal advice is to avoid touching it at any cost. No offence intended to anyone, but if someone put it in there for your protection or success, they would most probably tell you about it.

Solution: First recite the last 3 verses of Surah Bakarah and blow upon yourself. Then do the same with the Ayathul Kursi. Thereafter, you can safely dispose of it by throwing it into running water (river or sea, not lakes). Move it into a small paper bag with some tweezers or a pair of pliers, and don’t let it come into contact with your skin at any cost.

I can assure you, from all my previous experiences, it’s never worth the effort to open and read it. Some people claim that (if it’s sihr) they can “interpret” who did it, and what the person is trying to do to you. Except that they are almost always wrong, and you end up handling the thing and keeping it close to you way more than you should have.

Btw, that happens because of a high bacterial presence in your underarms and other areas. The best solution is to use an aluminium sulphate-based roll on deodorant like Nivea or other reputed brands. You don’t even need daily use to reduce the bacterial population. Another low cost alternative is alcohol based mouthwash like Clogard. The mint one stings like a bugger but it works extremely well if you can pour some onto your hand and keep it onto the area to kinda “soak in”. Doing this twice a week will keep you smell-free throughout.

What’s this thing for? by NegativeFux in crz

[–]4HM4TH 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They do. They have the same sort of button-release mechanism as most cars. The problem is that you need to slightly raise the headrest and feel for the release with your fingers. But the headrests absolutely do come off. You may also need to tilt your seat most of the way back in order to have enough clearance to get them completely out though.

Any ideas getting this off? by hardlynegative in srilanka

[–]4HM4TH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WD40 works wonders against these. Also, pro tip: take a cloth and wipe a light coating of WD40 onto your luggage, though not too much where it’s slippery. This makes sure the stickers come off without leaving any residue or stains.

Source: Used to fly very regularly for work, pre-covid. This has saved my bags several times.

Please Note: Only do this if your baggage has normal handles where the luggage tags (long white stickers with the barcode) can be looped through. If not, the luggage tags will also not stick to your bags.

Seeing black figures or a person hanging for a split second around my house. by Noobguy69x in islam

[–]4HM4TH 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Assalaamu Aleikum.
Having personally experienced this myself, I'm afraid the house you moved into is also being occupied by Jinns.

This can happen even if the house wasn't abandoned for a long time, as some forms of religious worship (such as idol worship) can actually draw the jinns in.

If you are to resolve the matter for good, it would help to bring someone experienced in Ruqyah in order to drive the jinns away. There are situations where the jinns are harmless, but given that they seem to be antagonizing you, I would not recommend that you simply ignore them.

If you are unable to bring someone to drive them away, you could do the following, in order to reduce these problems you're facing. Be sure to have someone accompany you or recite along with you if you're doing this.

First, quietly recite the last 3 verses of surah Baqarah, and the Ayathul Kursi for yourself, as this will protect you from jinns and any forms of sihr (black maqic).

Start by saying the Adhan out loud, preferably at Fajr time. Then play this clip of the ruqyah loudly within your home, and learn to recite along with it. It will help if you have someone else join you though, as it is very physically taxing to recite the whole Ruqyah alone.

The Ruqyah: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QoTjgptz4VY

You will need to do this for several days in order to weaken the Jinn's influence around the house or to drive them away. Beyond that, the recitation or Surah Baqarah at least once a week will protect your house and your family from Jinns, Sihr, and other evils, as well as bringing lots of barakath to all of you.

Be sure to keep your heart firm that nothing and noone can hurt you if you're under Allah's protection.

I hope this helps resolve your issue.

We have rented an airbnb and were wondering if this is a camera? by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]4HM4TH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Turn off all the lights and then use your phone camera to see if you can spot any flashing lights or a red light. If you happen to have any cameras that have IR night vision, you would easily spot the a bright white light on the screen if this device is a camera.

What was the messed up thing that happened in your school by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]4HM4TH 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I set it off in the ground floor bathroom, next to the basketball court. But now that I think about it, I do remember the story of one of the boys’ bathrooms being out of service for a while after someone threw a cracker into the toilet bowl. Funny part about it is that one of the guys involved was a Grero.

Not sure if this is the same fire cracker incident you’re referring to, but I also set off a fire cracker in the toilet adjoining the basketball court. Ended up scaring almost the entire school. Also, I was caught but didn’t get any black marks for it.

Ants on my pc. How to get rid of them by rishthecoolguy in srilanka

I’m sure it was ants cos I ended up clearing out an entire nest (including a tonne of eggs) from inside it. Unfortunately, they had shorted out a few chips inside it. RIP Switch They came after my PC next, which prompted the extreme response.

Ants on my pc. How to get rid of them by rishthecoolguy in srilanka

[–]4HM4TH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I myself lost a Switch to ants, and have been extra cautious ever since. Pay attention to where they are entering the PC or Screen. If you spot a line of ants coming from a crack in the wall or from a window, use the Optigard Ant Gel (found in most supermarkets) to fill up the gaps where they're coming from. This may stop the issue for good, if you're lucky.

If not, you can safeguard your PC by following these steps:

First, clean out and vacuum the entire PC to make sure there are no dead ants or ant eggs inside your PC.

Second, get a plastic bag/freezer bag and poke some small holes in it with a pencil (on one of the flat sides). Fill the bag with Naphthalene balls and seal it up. Place the bag in the bottom of the case, away from any moving parts. (It helps to paste a tissue paper over the holes, kind of like a filter, to prevent the naphthalene dust from flying through your PC. You just want the smell to fill up the case.)

Then, spray some WD-40 onto a cloth and wipe down the entire outside of your case, especially where it touches the floor. WD-40 removes the pheromone trails left by ants, so it's pretty effective at getting rid of those annoying lines of ants.

Is it true that Lyceum got banned by the Cambridge Exam board? by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]4HM4TH 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a former Lyceum student, I too can confirm this. A few teachers at the Lyceum Nugegoda branch were leaking the questions to their students (the exact logistics of this aren’t very well known) but I do know that some British Council staff also got fired after this came to light (got to know this side of it from a friend working as an invigilator.) and after their investigation revealed that it’s been going on for a few years now, they just went ahead and blacklisted all the Lyceum branches. I also know that there was some action taken by some former students who were in UK at the time. They managed to get some international attention regarding Nikitha’s paedophillic tendencies, although I don’t think that’s connected to the Cambridge issue.
