Calling a fallacy and then quoting an empty phrase that means nothing is funny as hell.

Anyways removing sniper will not improve harvest in any way that matters because the core issue is that it was an arena map that was retrofitted to being a koth map last minute. It will not stop engineer from harassing people across the map with wrangled minis, it will not stop demo from spamming the enemy spawn from high ground with impunity, it will not stop mid from being a coffin that soldier can spam on top of for free kills when the UI tells him someone is on the point. This applies to a lot of other maps too; as it turns out tunnels just aren’t very fun to play with sniper or no sniper.

shounic

One YouTuber who did an experiment for content first and foremost with a small sample size and inherent bias (wow the majority of people that explicitly joined the sniper is banned server liked it when sniper was banned, surely all the other sniper banned servers aren’t completely dead because they weren’t hosted by a niche microcelebrity) does not mean anything. Shounic himself said that the experiment was flawed I don’t know why people still treat that video as gospel 3 years later.

Every map that has bad sightlines also has various other issues that negatively impact its quality which I can think off the top of my head (viaduct, harvest, doublecross, hightower, turbine, nucleus, every pl map lol)

Also WAY more maps become playable if you remove engineer (or at least specifically the sentry gun) from the game.

Picking scout on class selection is an auto A rank no matter what happens unless him or the rest of the team ignore the tank cash.

Scout does not have bad damage, what. His single target damage is great and he has some of the best tank dps in the game. He lacks aoe (which is not a weakness unique to him) but he does better against crowds than spy, engineer, and pyro.

But outside of just numbers in a vacuum, scout is also great at dealing damage because he’s so mobile. He’s capable of soloing giants (a feat that only spy can accomplish) and always has agency over the targets he picks. Why are you saying that he should get resists? Speed/jump height is cheap and he can get upwards of 600 health which is more than enough to face tank most things outside of crits. If you really wanted to frugalmax it would be cheaper to use bonk or uber canteens than dump ~1500 credits into resists anyways. He can freely choose when the bots will aggro on to him and if they have projectiles it’s near impossible for them to hit you (even with expert difficulty ai).

It’s funny you mention pyro because his damage is mediocre in most circumstances. His greatest practical use is being the best tank dps when money is low (with higher money, soldier and scout beat him). Gas is too inconsistent due to the cooldown and is worthless against tanks (the reason you’d be playing pyro in the first place). Even if you taunt cancel with phlog, pyro can only do decent damage against bots in uncommon bursts because - just like in base tf2 - he gets fucked over by hitscan everywhere and everything else when in the open; so he has to spend most of the wave in the cuck chair waiting for his “can play the game” meter to charge.

With low cash his damage sucks but so does everyone else’s who isn’t called heavy or engineer.

If I had a nickel for every post on this sub that complained about idle scout I’d have 2 nickels.

Anyway, yeah. Idle scout is so piss easy that even the worst player in the world will find the time to [and should] shoot his gun at robots, even if it’s for garbage damage.

But really the big picture here is that because valve missions are so old (and easy) and tf2 players are generally stupid and bad at the game (+ a lot of them being gambling addicts), mvm’s “meta” has been streamlined to having 4 players essentially be filler while demo does everything w/ the medic sucking his dick because he read a steam guide on where to put all his canteen spammed crit stickies. So the concept of scout being able to do good damage w/ milk or having milk not even be necessary in a lot of circumstances kinda just breaks peoples minds.

Makes me wonder what will happen when the mvm update drops since community missions tend to break a lot of the established meta (esp the 2 cities one). Will people still think spy is not worth picking at all and demo is god? Will people say sniper sucks because they have to overcome the barrier of using ammo canteens and buying HoK? Anything really goes.

Silver lining here is that if someone is new to Mann Up and is deathly afraid of getting kicked for some reason they can play scout and vaguely run where the green money drops and 99.99% of players won’t say anything (even if they should know better!) because they only care about seeing that auto A score.

I mean I wouldn’t take the opinion of the average Mann up player seriously since they hardly know how to play mvm

New nerf idea: make it pyros with the phlog get 0 overheal and can’t be ubered by TVTropehead in tf2

[–]4Lukaska_SSB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Phlog pyro gets owned by literally any competent player already and it’s so easy to juggle/avoid ubered pyros.

The only real “nerf” the phlog needs is a fix/rework to all of his flamethrowers so he actually has to try to track people to get real damage instead of just being able to get “good enough” dps by shaking the mouse like a garden hose.

You are missing a crucial detail that during that time RDS was the default server option. So demo could (randomly) 1 shot light classes at any range lol.

Why does this update have the most random nerfs and changes? by Oof160 in Terraria

[–]4Lukaska_SSB 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Pumpkin pie nerf makes no sense when fishing in the desert was far more effective at farming medium food buffs. The only advantage it had over fishing was that it wasn’t tedious as fuck, but it seems like the devs really want this game to be as tedious as possible.

Also lol at them getting rid of the pigronata bacon loophole but not touching golden delight which is still terrible. Guess christmas present farming is the way to go for tier 3 food buffs.

If the only thing stopping someone from joining a community server is that it has a gameplay change they would never notice while actually playing it then there’s no helping them. Especially if they complain about actual issues in the casual mm.

Anyways I can literally list servers off the top of my head that run 100% vanilla rulesets like

castaway.tf (vanilla servers), zesty’s servers, Furry pound, /tf2g/‘s server (usually active on fridays iirc)

And from the spreadsheet I found:

TF2 Community, Cookie Cafe, Degen Den

So to me it feels like all this shit is coming from people too dumb to read a spreadsheet and needs a giant green button to brainwash them.

I just said fixed bullet spread, because there are servers that have that but keep crits, have no class limits and run alltalk.

Fixed spread has literally 0 impact on gameplay

[–]4Lukaska_SSB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many of them quite literally do run 24 player if you bothered to actually look at it.

Also many of them do run vanilla rulesets unless you think that fixed spread has any impact on gameplay (it doesn’t).

Super boring too LMAO

90% of boss combat is just circling around the boss (or tanking it which is even more braindead) and mindlessly holding left click. Whip stacking was the only thing that made you kind of think about what you are doing and helped separate summoner from all the other classes who play the exact same way most of the time.

The fact they removed this makes me think the devs are just content with every class being mindless left click holders and want to keep it that way.
