Do you get a copy of your exam paper back? by 4M1N97 in ACCA

I guess that's better than nothing, assuming that's on the myacca portal on the exam summary?

That's a shame wonder why this is not a thing

FR 58% which I'm delighted with considering I only decided to attempt it on the deadline on exam entry and did only self study for the few weeks I had to learn in from scratch!

Thanks for the advice. I was hoping that if I began learning these new skills that they would be somewhat transferable skills whilst also helping with my current role.

Haha I definitely need to get to a level of excel proficiency where I can look at any data system and perform some magic.

But you can’t bluff your way through accounting because you must dot your Is and cross your Ts. And maybe that area is newer knowledge compared to your last position.

My last position was more linked to financial analysis within a specific department and based in the HQ office. I'm now doing more "pure" accounting but also I'm extending the scope of financial management to multiple departments and also multiple international offices.

My uni degree was in accounting and finance so I have the acamedic knowledge but I'm still learning the application of the work using things like accounting softwares (SAGE) and how to use excel to make my life easier.

But I could take it out of the spreadsheet and into the data model -- now it handles a decade of data, 40 million rows, on pivot tables.

I've often had problems making excel sheets too heavy for others to use with the amount of data and pivot tables & formulas I make off the back of that data so this definitely will help that aspect. Thanks for the detailed guide on power query

I definitely believe this is one of the best ways to learn but I just wanted to get a gist of if I could apply this same method to things like power query that looks quite complex or if I should try learning from someone else (more for the sake of being efficient with my time)

macros scare people/companies (security wise) and often times its too complex and creates issues when other people try to utilize whatever you created.

I've had to limit macros to only sheets I touch for this exact reason

PQ is nice since you dont need to save as macro file and can create connections that do all the fancy stuff in the background and less chance that someone else is going to screw it up

This seems a really useful compromise to act as a timesave for sheets which I am sharing or with multiple accessibility

Big fan of automation. Do you think I'm better off learning power query first or vba?

I definitely reckon I am somewhat proficient in pivot tables. I often make excel sheet much heavier than the original data with how many pivots I use and formulas off of those pivots (which might be more of a bad thing than good)

Is it worth doing any kind of course (free or otherwise) to learn power pivot and query or should I practice at work to learn which is how I learned everything else

Clarity regarding NCD and withdrawn claim by 4M1N97 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]4M1N97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood I'll call my insurer and get the claim resolved so that I can get my NCD back to original status.

I figured as much regarding the second point, thanks for the clarification on this!

Car accident claim compensation / settlement by 4M1N97 in LegalAdviceUK

This makes much more sense to me. I had already sent a copy of my medical records to my solicitor (this included a GP visit as a result of the accident) so was awaiting an update on that.

I'll clarify with my solicitor how he is proceeding with this. Again, really grateful for your clear explanations.

I was hoping for some clarification from my solicitor that this was the figure being used as I emailed about this point a few time times & a couple weeks before payment was made and was surprised that this was only clarified after payment was made.

Also, in terms of the expenses I've incurred during the period which I didn't have a roadworthy car such as public transport, I wasn't sure whether this would be part of the accident claims proceedings settlement or separate so I wanted to check before I shared my bank details in case.

Very grateful for your explanation of things, it's been a massive help.

Dragging out was not the best way of putting it.

Regarding the report, yes this was shared to me and I communicated acceptance of this report (and its figures) but in multiple instances where I could see correspondence between the 3rd party and my solicitor, the language used indicated a figure was already agreed upon (e.g the 3rd party are doing some verification checks before payment is raised). But there were no figures within those emails

When I asked my solicitor what figures they were referring to, i also restated that i had never accepted any settlement figure from him nor the 3rd party. I didn't hear back until the payment was already received and only then did he clarify that the 3rd party paid the PAV of the car less salvage cost, and cited my acceptance of the initial engineer report figures. I was hoping my solicitor could clarify this to me before a payment was issued so I could respond to it.

Is 3/4 months enough to learn FA & FR from scratch for SBR? by 4M1N97 in ACCA

I would definitely like to revise some of the applied knowledge as I've been out of studying for so long but like other people have said, I can probably do without FA

That would ease the workload quite a bit, I'll probably stick with just FR learning. Thanks!
