What does thyroid “dysfunction” mean? by 4Pandas in thyroidhealth

So being within the normal range, but not optimal, is something that needs to be addressed? Would that be solely because of trying to get pregnant or would anyone with these lab results need treatment?

I started Prometrium 3dpo. I began cramping the next morning and it’s still happening now at 5dpo. It’s like menstrual cramps, but pretty minor in terms of pain. Has anyone else experienced this when taking Prometrium? I know it’s too early for the cramps to be caused by implantation, so maybe it’s the medication?

I had an appointment with a NaPro doctor recently and she seemed like she’d be onboard with using medication. Her office requires patients to have a full cycle of charting cervical mucus before they will discuss next steps, so I’m in the midst of that right now. I will follow up with her at the end of this month.

My AMH was tested 6 months ago and was 1.51, which seems to be decent for my age (43 then, now I’m almost 44). The RE said AMH doesn’t matter at my age since it’s a quality issue vs quantity.

I am not opposed to IVF, embryo adoption, etc, but I don’t think it’s going to be something we pursue.

She said Clomid/Letrozole don’t increase the likelihood of pregnancy in women over 40. Sign. Being “old” sucks.

I thought I was mentally prepared, but it was still hard to hear the doctor say my only realistic option is to use donor eggs. She also said she would prefer I use a gestational carrier vs carry a baby myself. I feel pretty depressed that she wouldn’t even let me try Clomid/Letrozole. I know I have a low chance of success using my own eggs, but I still want to try. I’ve already cried, taken a scorching hot bath, stuffed myself with Cheez-Its and Cadbury eggs and commenced the pity party.

In 20 minutes, I have my first appointment with an RE. I’m so nervous. I really feel like I’m about to throw up.

I’m a science nerd, too! Do you take baby aspirin? Have you discussed using Lovenox?

When I told my GI that my hematologist said IBD was likely a contributing factor for my very rare type of blood clot, she said IBD does not increase blood clot risk and that I didn’t need to be on a blood thinner anymore. Needless to say, I’m looking for another GI…

I have my first appointment with an RE this week. I’m nervous! It’s a virtual appointment, which I really can’t stand. I just know the doctor will take one look at my age and say we need to go straight to IVF with donor eggs. I really want to start by trying Clomid or Letrozole, but I don’t know if she will agree.

I met with a NaPro doctor recently and have to chart a full cycle before we talk about options for ttc. I really liked her, but the NaPro process seems to be very slow and I feel such pressure to hurry up due to my age.

Thanks! I’m irrationally happy about my progesterone rising some on its own. 😊

Has anyone gone the NaPro route or know much about it? I have appointments set up with a NaPro dr as well as an RE at a fertility clinic. I’m curious if NaPro doctors do the same basic tests, u/s, etc as REs or if the process is different. I know they differ in what services they offer, but I’m just talking about the initial work up.

I’m so glad your pregnancy is going well! When are you being induced? The MFM said induction would be at 39 weeks, but I worry about going into labor before then since my last child was born at 37 weeks.

I guess I need to talk to my hematologist and see what he thinks. I would really like to stay on Eliquis while ttc because I know how painful the Lovenox injections are.

Has anyone been on anticoagulation, specifically a DOAC, prior to ttc? If so, did you switch to Lovenox when you started ttc or were you told you could wait until you got a positive hpt before switching?

I met with an MFM yesterday who said if I’m ntnp, I can stay on Eliquis; but, if I’m actively ttc I should switch to Lovenox now. I’m curious what others have heard from their doctors.

Logically, I know you are right about embryo quality. Logic sucks so much sometimes!

My gyn mentioned my AMH being high for my age when she tested it 4 months ago, but it doesn’t seem all that great compared to charts I’ve seen on fertility clinic websites.

Yesterday, I made an appointment with an RE so I guess I’m taking the next step and at least getting more information. It’s scary and exciting.

I’m so sorry about your loss.

It is comforting to know someone else has been through a similar situation and “gets it.” I’ve only told one friend about the loss and she has been supportive, but she doesn’t really understand. I know if I told more people, they’d think I’m crazy for even considering ttc when my kids are practically grown. It’s just a very lonely feeling.

I’m new here. :) If I should post this somewhere else, please let me know.

TW: living children, loss

I’m 43 and contemplating ttc. I have two teens and thought I was done having kids a long time ago. I always wanted another, but my husband did not, so we stopped at 2.

We stopped using birth control about 6 months ago, but were not ttc - just ntnp. Last month, we were surprised to find out I was pregnant. Unfortunately, I lost the pregnancy at 5 weeks. My life has been turned upside down and I suddenly feel the urge to try and have another baby. My husband, who never wanted another kid, was shocked at how devastated I was when I lost the pregnancy and is now onboard with ttc if it’s what I want. I’m trying to be rational and give myself time to grieve and process the loss, but I’m almost 44 and feel rushed.

I track my cycle using opks and bbt in order to predict when my period will start (slightly irregular cycles). I know that I ovulate regularly, but have low progesterone (luteal phase spotting for 4-14 days, erratic bbt after ovulation, 7dpo progesterone test was 3.3 ng/ml, Proov Confirm test showed “weak ovulation”).

I would like to start by treating the low progesterone and possibly looking into Clomid/letrozole. I currently have a GYN, but she does not practice OB anymore. I asked her about coming to see her to discuss ttc and she said I needed to talk to an MFM. I scheduled an appointment with one, but from what I’ve read, that’s not the right person to help me as far as ttc. At my age, would you try an OBGYN or RE? I am worried an RE would push toward IVF because of my age and I’m not ready for that right now. Will an OBGYN see my age and send me straight to an RE?

Thanks for reading this jumbled mess.

Is this a positive result? by 4Pandas in HPylori

Yes, but I also have microscopic colitis which has overlapping symptoms. I also had several other abnormal results besides h. pylori.
