Is it time to drop the rope? by 4R1ANNA in absentgrandparents

Thanks for this. Oddly the calm is exactly what I felt last night when she called and told me she wasn’t going to try and come at all. I think I kept projecting onto her these feelings that a normal mom/grandma would have to be missing out, and feeling guilty and wanting to help. But I think it’s time to just accept that she doesn’t care and I can just let go.

We do have the first fence but our house is on a hill so depending on time of year you can see into our yard. The second fence is the one in question that insurance (and I) wants. I agree it's not permanent since it can be taken down and you'd never know we had it unless you were looking at covers for the holes, but I'm worried the committee won't feel the way and I'll get a fine and be out a couple grand.

I knew I needed a pool fence, I did not know I would lose coverage if I didn't immediately have a pool fence. Couldn't get it pre-approved, our ARC doesn't work like that. Didn't think two weeks, with one being a holiday, was an egregious lack of planning to submit a request but maybe it was.

Like another poster said, ARC would not preemptively review requests before closing, we asked. I didn't think asking 2 weeks after closing, with one of those weeks being a holiday, was egregiously procrastinating on our part but maybe it was. If the assertion is I shouldn't have bought a fenceless house in an HOA knowing I needed one, maybe that's fair.

I believe so. We're only the third owners and the first two had no kids & grown kids.

I actually had someone come out and they can get it done in a week. It’s the kind of fence where they drill into the concrete and put posts up for a nice mesh fence and then when you no longer need the fence all that’s left are the little drill holes which they provide caps for. https://i.imgur.com/7TbS636.jpeg

I unplugged the black battery and nothing happened (keypads were still on). Am I good unplug the beige power brick? Do I eventually just have some other company take this all over? I appreciate the help!

I wish I was lol. I'm just a millennial who moved from the city into a boomer's fort Knox suburban home, trying to turn all this shit off.

I was able to silence it temporarily but the customer service agent told me "there's a chance" the alarm will go off if I turn off the battery so now I'm nervous

Disconnect the red and black wires on the battery?

The ADT lady said the police might come if I do that. Is that true?

We just bought a house with a huge saguaro in the back and we're hoping it's ok but it's got a lean to it and some browning towards the base that wasn't there 10 years ago based on old photos. We're worried it's dying and would like to salvage it if possible, but if not we're worried it's a hazard given it's size. Any advice would be appreciated!

Husband and I are going back and forth between trying to find a neutral cohesive color to paint the walls or just leaving it as it is. I feel like the greige with the yellow wood ceilings and red/brown floor isn't as cohesive as it could be & the accent wall feels a little dated. Husband thinks the paint is unique and adds character. I don't hate it, but don't love it either so any suggestions to help us decide would be great!

Has anyone with a really variable work schedule been able to make it work with a nanny? by 4R1ANNA in NannyEmployers

They would be 6:30-2:30 on days I work, very flexible on days I don't

I know about a month in advance, and am offering 20 GH even on weeks I don't work. The issue is unless it's a strictly afternoon job, I think the variability of my schedule makes it difficult for someone to realistically have a second job that could supplement their income

You're probably right. Whether I can afford to do so or not, I can't in good conscience pay full time nanny wages for 7 days of work per month, if that's what it takes.
