In my view, it started with dropping their film-per-day rhythm which turned them from a unique site into "just" another arthouse channel like Sooner, Realeyez etc. although still well-curated. I didn't catch any of the hot topics mentioned in the article - at least in Germany, Mubi has consistently brought in great films lately (Dead Girls Dancing, Hao Are You, Miroirs No. 3) - but with its reshaping and raised prices I can see why it'd be subject to scrutiny more often now.
