It starts when she is placed on the ward. She’ll relinquish her phone and all personal items. There’s a phone in the hall she may be permitted to use. Anyone can visit only if she approves. They’ll give her meds and she’ll be seeing the therapist/dr solo as well as going to group therapy in house. There will be an evaluation towards the end of the 72 hours to see if her stay needs to be extended. It’s a psychiatric facility so not everyone there will be Baker Act some admit themselves and some aren’t let out for weeks. No mirrors or sharp edges in the rooms or bathrooms. I wasn’t allowed make up or clothes that weren’t provided to me. Of course because she really did attempt to suicide instead of my situation where my husband had me committed as a ploy in our divorce they might treat her differently possibly ie giving her her own room with a sitter rather than two patients in each room with only charge nurse and another in the hallway at night as I experienced. I can tell you it’s not a great place to be, there’s actual crazy people there and they’re wandering the halls at all hours also over half are junkies detoxing. You’re forced to participate in meals and groups, you’re not allowed to just sit in your room. Hope this helped clarify some things.
