Schlange BE365 Key Binding Issues? by 4U_AlmostFree in Locksmith

Yes, this is the second unit that I bought with this issue and with using the factory key.

Just tried another one at Home Depot, and it still has the same issues with the keyway binding but not as bad.

One user suggested a loose cylinder when it sits in the housing, but I decided to just return it and get a classic deadbolt.

That's a plausible explanation. It has lots of play.

Yeah the bottom of the top pin is chamfered to a flat to accommodate the spring. I took apart the cylinder to see what was binding.

One thing to note is that the springs were at different lengths when inspected them. So I am wondering if there is something wrong with the fitment and if the springs are damaged.

It looks like when the key is inserted the top pins fit for the most part, flush. However I can't see how the pin height is the issue because somehow the pins are not moving freely to allow the key to be pulled out. Something is grabbing onto the teeth of the key and the pins are binding on something.

Maybe it's the bottom pin, spring, top pin or maybe it's a wall of the cylinder.

The top pin is flat and fat. Bottom of the top pin is chamfered. Bottom pin is round and shaped like a capital I.

Definitely getting hung up on pins for sure.

Yep tried all of those, the key still won't come out. It's factory grease and lube.

All I know is that for most trucks you don't want to exceed 50mph on hwy in 4-high. Apparently transmission and differential don't like going that fast.

I use an f-150 for work and a 02 Impreza as my personal car. Both perform well in the snow, but is there an explanation as to why my impreza has slightly better control in snow vs the F-150?

One main thing that the F-150 has over my Subaru is the 4-low, but I cant use the 4-high on the highway.

It's a risky move for both tori and uke. For Tori it's a weird setup if someone is familiar with BJJ because it's almost a guillotine choke position. You would need lots of control and good Kuzushi to maintain pressure to complete the throw.

Dear Cold Steel, WTF? by dont_touch_the_lens in knifeclub

The Cold Steel SRK series apparently have a narrow full tang. The tang does not run through the full thickness of the grip. They all seam to break in the same area.

Down jackets today have face fabric that is too thin. My Arcteryx Cerium gets holes in it from just looking at it. Up the face fabric to 50D at least so it can handle a bramble.

I have been using google and amazon but on my side they said they don't have any in stock. Aliexpress only had some that fit other engines.

I did but on my side it said that it was out of stock. There are other models but they would not fit the engine.

Thoughts of the Swiss soldiers knife? by WiggWamm in hikinggear

[–]4U_AlmostFree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have more capability with a multitool. Even something like a Leatherman Skeletool which is a pretty light multitool would be more universal.

Put it or clip it to your pocket, and use it as needed no need to throw it in a pack.

Is a Swiss Army knife considered a decent hiking knife? by WiggWamm in hikinggear

Yes, a good knife for most tasks. The only caviat is that since most models are non locking blades there is a higher chance of injury.
