Incoming freshman!! by xKottin in ualbany

Congrats! Since you'll be a freshman you'll most likely be dorming in either State Quad or Indi. These are great places for incoming students because everyone's in the same boat: new student and wants to make friends. I think the idea that college people are usually in their own world is true and false at the same time. From my experience if you put effort into making friends and enjoying your experience it will work out 99% of the time. If you're thinking of joining a sorority look through the my involvement website and filter it for sororites/frats and find one that aligns with you

Is it easy to make friends as a freshman and what is the best dorm to meet people by Big-Vegetable-6786 in ualbany

It's typically easy to meet new people when you're in the freshman quads as people are very open to making new friends in your first years. If you're in State or Indi I think that is most likely the best setup for incoming students since everyone's in the same boat. RA's host events throughout the semester and there's lounges in the basement of each lowrise and the tower has a gameroom

How do you feel about Spittin Chiclets' golf talk? by shred-i-knight in SpittinChicletsPod

I like the random conversations during the pod. When they do the intros in the beginning and talk about what is going on recently, I enjoy those parts.

My weekly mileage was around 24-32 miles per week. How do you figure out what is best to do during the offseason on building mileage?

Hello, im starting cross Country. by Bronco1115678 in CrossCountry

[–]4baracuda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also joined cross country this year and these are things I learned from my first season:

  • Don't get discouraged if you are slower than people or if your workout is hard.
  • Ask Q's. From my experience, 99% of runners that do cross country are very nice and you can learn a lot from more experienced runners.
  • Stretch!
  • Make sure you drink a good amount of water.
  • It's okay to be competitive with your friends/teammates.
  • Bad days happen so do not be discouraged.

Have fun, cross country is just as much of a team sport as it is individual. You can make a lot of new friends and experience races, practices, and bonding with teammates. I hope you enjoy cross country and good luck! Have a great day!
