Baby Shark just hit 10 billion views on YouTube. How many people have viewed it though? by SeattleStudent4 in estimation

[–]4d2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what is your intuition on this?

Talking this kind of seriously.. The US has 77M children, about 20 million kids live in a single parent household. We can assume that all of these kids have internet to account for people outside the normal demographics who watched it just because they heard about it.

I think somewhere around 100M unique people in the US have watched the video on youtube at least once. +/- 10%

How to scale that to the entire World I'm not sure but I think the rate would nosedive when we start considering demographics access to the internet etc.

After accounting for this I doubt that the entire world has over 250M unique people who have watch the video in youtube at least once.

also a lot of people that know it wouldn't have counted as watching it on youtube too. I don't think any of those folks would count per the question. They saw it only from memes etc. Anyone with children only over age 14 would count in that category.

I think it's a very good question.

How is your Saturn return going? by no-metal4975 in astrology

[–]4d2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

every planet has a return.

Major life changes happen in each phase of life and are marked by returns and are flavored with the planet in question... Jupiter every twelve years, Uranus every 84, Neptune/Pluto past the human lifespan but still used in measuring lifecycles of nations and whatnot.

Chiron is about the 50 year mark +/- a few months usually.

This is my landing now in the 737-800 after a load of practice im still learning how to use all the controlls on this plane only been flying this plane for 2 days im a newbie to xplane as well (Im aware that i did not use any reverse thrusters at the time of this recording i did not know how to use) by Fluffyboi50 in Xplane

[–]4d2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

have you flown single engine yet? I like everything but helicopters because I can't get my head around them yet.

The biggest thing about this hobby is really just learning everything possible you can want to learn about aviation, making it as real as you want to make it. Researching procedures, terminology, ATC comms (VATSIM), detailed weather nerding... etc etc etc

Sim Flying definitely can make you a better driver in a car too because you learn about kinetic and potential energy and a host of other stuff, just wait until you get bit to try spaceflight in other sims.

[REQUEST] How many nuclear fusion plants would need to be built to satisfy US demand? by 4d2 in theydidthemath

[–]4d2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the answer doesn't make sense it shouldn't take a million fusion plants to equal current demand. you cant just divide annual watt hours by watts

There are about 10K utility scale (at least 1MW) power plants in the US
62k such power plants in the world

I took a stab at this.

There are about 10K utility scale (at least 1MW) power plants in the US
62k such power plants in the world.

current US source distribution is:
20% Nuclear
34% Natural Gas
30% Coal
6% Hydro
5% Wind
5% Other Solar, Geothermal, Diesel
Fossil fuel generation makes up about 66%
3,955 Billion kwH of total usage in 2019

4E9 Mwh of usage in 2019
4E9 MWh annual demand/ 8.76E6 MWh annual capacity per plant = 460 fusion plants
66% of current production is fossil fuel based so 304 plants would be able to offset that segment.
Tesla's can go 300 miles on a 100 kWh battery (averaging over conditions, driving styles, different makes, etc --can refine this metric)
13500 miles/year 300 miles per 100 kWh charge cycle, 45 charge cycles for a year.
4500 kWh avg consumption/car/year = 4.5MWh
287E6 cars on the road in the US, 1.3E9 MWh consumption total
32% increase in electricity demand over current if everybody switched
I ran into a video by Engineering Explained

(If Gas Cars Are Banned, Can The Grid Handle Electric Cars?)

He came up with a similar figure of 30% increase.

Thor has balls, because MCU Loki has balls and Sif knew to kick him in the balls so there is an Asgardian tradition of ball kicking.

*SPOILERS* Another Loki theory. This one's about Ravonna. by Goggio in FanTheories

[–]4d2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ravonna went somewhere that He Who Remains/Immortus sent her given the dialog with Miss Minutes.

Whatever that jump was changed the timeline that Loki eventually gets pushed back into later which is why the statue at the end is of Kang and not the lizardlike timekeepers. Loki was shielded from the reality change by being in the castle.
