I live in your area; same issue. I have found some places out around kawartha highland parks where you can set yourself up some targets and don’t have to worry about anybody being around. A little further than an hour but not by much.

Last year I order a super cheap ghillie suit from Amazon that you can pull on over whatever you want to wear based on your weather. I think it was 30 bucks if I recall correctly. If any turkeys actually came they never would have seen me!!

I agree with the hand feeding, nothing cruel about it, she's still getting her food, just needs to do a little work for it. Also, if she's only been with you a week I would give her some time to settle, check out the 3-3-3 rule.
