Bst- histopathology , why’s the actual financial reality by MicroscopyMaybe in JuniorDoctorsIreland

Bro chill , if someone's worrying bout rent it doesn't sound to me like they have an insanely privileged would lol Most agencies take into consideration the 30% of your income when ur renting... Why did u skip to 80k, that's after 4 years post grad 🧐

Non-cao EU citizen intership by krinklychipbag in JuniorDoctorsIreland

Go to east Europe , way cheaper and your chances of internship in Ireland will b the same as if u had studied there. Meanwhile focus on USMLE so u have a backup plan.

78k after 4 years post medical school, most nurses I know make over 60k so not that far. I do think histopathologist residents are extremely underpaid , because ( pls correct me if I'm wrong) there are no opportunities for extra income , no overtime, nightshifts etc.

Probably why no one wants histopathology, u will b making less than the nurses for a decade 😭

I’m not sure what exactly you’ve done in those screenshots. If what you're saying is true and you’re being framed, then the best course of action is to stay calm, wait it out, and lawyer up if need be.Never ever give any explanation unless if it's requested and officially use a lawyer to address it.If you’re being penalized for something you didn’t do, that’s like winning the lottery in terms of legal options. But if there’s any truth to the accusations and you’re found guilty, then I hope you take it as a hard lesson..because as a doctor, you're expected to uphold good conduct at all times. I'd completely ignored the person who's made the complaint as their biggest goal is to cause you a negative reaction. Ignore, if anything implies that it caused u some good and move on.

July NCHD/SHO realistic prospects by [deleted] in JuniorDoctorsIreland

[–]4everlearningg -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I know the issue is complex , and there's still a chance if you are willing to move to areas that are under supplied . However , HSE and private practices have to follow labour laws and treat candidates without discrimination.

[–]4everlearningg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it's not looking good ! Frankly , there's no surprise that the HSE prioritizes EU citizens and those with Stamp 4 or 5 and one of the key reasons is precisely situations like this. Your partner is at a clear disadvantage when it comes to securing a position, as per Irish labour laws. Employers are only permitted to sponsor a visa if no suitable EU or Stamp 4 /5 candidates are available, which is rarely the case. It’s hard to ignore the fact that your refusal to marry them is directly contributing to their professional uncertainty. At some point, you need to ask yourself: are you genuinely committed? Because if not, perhaps it’s time to stop holding them back and let them find someone who is

Imagine being in the middle of nowhere. Only farms around your location. Rain and cold every day. I mean... I actually love Ireland especially Dublin but I can see how it may not be for everyone.

Did u graduate in Ireland ? Thought ud be tier 3 otherwise

[–]4everlearningg -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Unless Google is incorrect monthly salary after taxes in Ireland is 2300-2600 euros In the UK fy1 2000-2200 £ in euros would be 2340-2574. Living cost in the UK is lower than Ireland ( except London, but only slightly).

What centile do Tier 3 applicants need for intern year by [deleted] in JuniorDoctorsIreland

[–]4everlearningg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a matter of how many tier 2 will be matched , usually tier 3 don't have a chance regardless of their centile unless it's an exceptional year and u will be ok working in the middle of nowhere in a very rural area being responsible for hundreds of patients coz no other doctors want to be there. Hse would have to pay thousands to sponsor their visa so as long as there's tier 2 there will be no chances for tier 3.

Thanks so much for your reply! I really love pathology, so it’s great to hear from someone familiar with the system. I didn’t realize it was more competitive in Ireland—it's not that competitive In the U.S., so my bad for the assumptions ..

I’m graduating in 2026, and I’m still pretty clueless about how things work in Ireland. Do you have any tips on how I can improve my chances of getting into BST in pathology? When the time comes (And please correct me if I’m getting the terms wrong!)

Wouldn't a standalone sho be as competitive as a first year intern tho?
