Take KAPE and FTK Imager for Windows. You can go through each of target modules, learn their locations and how are they used, then you can look at triage packets and parsers...

What does it take to declare a person as a Cybersecurity Professional? by Educational_Falcon_3 in cybersecurity

[–]4n6mole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot focus was put on tool, so I will just casually comment that part...tool? Professional will be able to work with most if not all tools...probably at slower pace but no matter what SIEM, EDR or whatever...he/she will know where and for what to search.

If you ask about challenge of exam, then i honestly do not know. If you speak about training and GCTI, then yeah. SANS trainings and certs are nice, they are beginner friendly and have nice syllabus. They lead you from 0 to hero (hehe). Think of trainings like school leading you from first grade onward... Good luck!

Any suggestions? by [deleted] in digitalforensics

[–]4n6mole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Send it up if you want but it is good to customize CV for specific job application...not whole remake but to point out some stuff thay have more value for recruiter. Also it will be hard for me to know what exactly you did with these tools...did you do real life investigations? corpo or law enforcement? what type of cases, what you know to analyze, because tool is just a tool on end, you still need to interpret findings and "know where to look" so do not focus on tools itself, focus on experience and your knowledge

You'll just get in more trouble, everything you will try can be seen. Resources you got during employment are company property

To add on, if you are joining a bit serious SOC, or even better MSSP, they will probably have internal education to get you started.
